Approach Mode

What am I doing wrong? Using Rnav or ILS everything is going fine until I turn on approach mode on the xbox series x, it then throws me completely off course. This happens on both the Cessna 172 and Grand Caravan. I have the updated NXI for the G1000.

Are you activating approach?

Did you switch your NAV source? I had this happen before I realized you need to switch your NAV source. Some aircraft do it automatically for you once you are aligned.

I have both autopilot and nav mode on when I activate approach mode in both rnave and ils mode.

Yes I click on approach mode.

The question is, when do you activate the approach mode. At what distance and altitude (AGL)?

you need to select approach mode on the plane your flying not nav mode, with corresponding nav radio to the ils frequency!

What nav mode do you switch to? In ils mode I switch using cdi to loc1 the click on approach mode

That may be my problem. I will try it.

That’s the correct way. Is the ILS frequency correct?
Are LOC and GS visible before pushing the approach button?

Also, is NAV1 tuned to the ILS frequency?
