I just realized i haven’t seen a single lightning flash in live weather for quite a long time.
Maybe I just flew in conditions there just simply weren’t any lightning conditions.
How about u guys? anyone experienced some rain/lightning combo in Asobo live weather? (not asking for rex etc)
No, not for me there aren’t.
Same here … I specifically sought out thunderstorms via www.lightningmaps.org , but nothing.
Clouds? Yes. Wind? Yes. Heavy rain? Yes. Lightning? Nope.
They went straight from too much lightning in clear skies to no lightning at all. But hey, at least we have plenty of snow and frozen lakes in the middle of summer to make up for it.
Yes, I had some lightning bolts a couple of weeks ago landing at the airport near my home, and I can verify that there were real storms in the area.
Same. Seattle and Portland area…
The earth is struck by lightening approx 8.6 million times a day, the sim should reflect that.
In real life I recall several occasions flying over the alpine regions of Europe at night in the humid summer months during thunderstorms and seeing random lightning lighting up big patches of cloud below us while we flew in the calm clear starlit sky far above. It is an awesome sight that I have never experienced in the sim.
I saw lightning 2 weeks ago, fly up the East Coast of Fla. The funny thing about it was that the lightning was appearing 45 degrees off track of the storm. So clouds ahead .. bright and sunny 45 degrees off the port side, and in the nice bright and sunny part of the sky the lightning was going nuts for about 5 mins LOL
Thats the 1st time Ive seen lightning in the longest time, and no rain on the windows anymore even when your sitting on the runway and see the rain hitting the tarmac.
I had one storm with lightning in Italy about a month ago. That was it.
It is interesting how these posts go full circle. First people were complaining there was no lightning or thunder in the sim. Asobo added it, but it wasn’t properly implemented. In a singles flight there were continuous lightning strikes and thunder, even in clear skies with no storms.
Then users started asking Asobo to remove the thunder and lightning because it was ridiculously implemented. It became one of the top requested items for votes.
Asobo removed the feature and everyone was relieved. Now we are back to asking for lightning and thunder again. Let’s hope when we see it again, it works as it should.
Well it did disappear around the time that they said they were re-doing weather, so I would guess that it will be back eventually. And if they can ever get off their buts and get window wipers working correctly we’ll probably see that rain on the windows again, unless of course it was removed due to fps issues…
Fix* the thunder and lightning. Like with wind gusts, removing it was entirely Asobo’s decision.
How hard can it be to use sites like lightningmaps.org?
It covers nearly the whole world.
There has to be a way to extrapolate that data and feed them into the sim.
Possibly not so hard but likely involves money and licences.
We should start a fundraiser for Asobo then, lol.
I had few near lightnings 2 days ago in live weather in the us. Realistic updrafts and turbulence in storms or even rainy clouds is what is missing. You can find some wishes in wishlist section for them.
We did its called MSFS! 
Fly over Congo or also over lake Maracaibo in Venezuela. The latest is the lightning capital of the world with almost 300 days of lighting storms per year. If you don´t see them then there´s a bug

I did a flight from Durango, Colorado to Dallas a couple of days ago, and got a few lightning flashes with thunder about halfway between the two airports. There were scattered thunderstorms in that area on the real time NEXRAD weather radar on the WeatherBug app. Despite the lightning in MSFS, there were no storms in the LiveWeather clouds - just a few cumulus clouds here and there.
