I’m trying to tell from the picture… are the dimmer controls for the displays turned down and still giving those super blinding bright LCD’s?

I’ll add an observation that may or may not be relevant here and I’ll preface it by saying that I don’t fly the Asobo 737 Max (or any Max) and I only fly in MSFS 2020…

However, in the PMDG 737-800, I find that the displays are always too bright for me. Even in bright daylight I always adjust them down slightly. At night I turn them down a lot.

So, maybe the displays being really bright when they are turned all the way up is an accurate Boeing (or Honeywell or Collins) thing.

From your picture, it looks like the dimming controls are in the same places as the NG. Can they be turned down further or is that the issue?

This has been a problem in the MAX since day 1. Whenever you load into the plane, no matter time of day or night, the DU (Boeing-speak for LCD screens) are at max brightness. I don’t know that I’d call it a “bug” (there are plenty other real bugs in the Asobo MAX) but it’s certainly a usability hindrance.

Worse, for those unfamiliar with the 737 controls layout, the default camera view hides the knobs to reduce overall brightness and contrast behind the yoke. You have to either manipulate the pilot camera view to look over/behind the yoke, or fumble around in the dark to find the hide-yoke clickspot. Then, blinded by the glare of the screens, you have to fumble around looking for lighting controls to dim the screens. And then you have to reduce the brightness of the other screens individually by finding the knobs as well - unlike the 777, for instance, the 737 line doesn’t have a Master Brightness knob on the overhead.

@TenPatrol : seems the issue is not specific to SU1, did you start noticing it in SU1 or you also saw it in the Live version ?
Seems to be the same issue than reported here: Avionics and lighting in aircraft becomes way too bright during certain time of day

OP of the linked topic had an issue with an Airbus. However, I don’t have any issues with Airbuses or other aircraft as I mentioned at the beginning of the topic. The problem is definitely with Asobo 737 Max

Definitely one of the 30 or thereabouts bugs I’ve encountered with the max. It should be categorised as a bug if it hasn’t been reported as such already. It’s easily worked around but just one of many Max annoyances. It isn’t related to SU1 though. Been there since day 1 as @DrVenkman3876 suggested.

While waiting for my ordered pizza, I decided to check the “live” version of MSFS 2024 – and it turns out that this bug is present in this version as well.
So, the topic can be moved to
Bug Reporting Hub/Aircraft & Systems topics - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

Thank you for confirming the bug with overly bright displays.
