Asobo / Microsoft - Just WOW!

After seeing all the stupid negativity from some folks, I just want to say thank you for an amazing sim. This thing is incredible out of the gate, and is only going to get better. Incredibly grateful to you for all your efforts making this happen. Don’t let the haters get you down!

If you deleted the word “stupid” and replaced the word “haters” with something like “large number of people experiencing problems” I would agree with you and say you made a nice post. Cheers.

I can understand people having installation and peripheral issues getting upset and venting on these forums, and I really hope their issues get sorted. But as for some of the other complaints I’m seeing here, come on guys… Reminds of the stupid complaints you get from holiday makers ‘I went to Turkey and it was awful, the taxi drivers only spoke turkish etc’. Just Google (or Bing) “top ten stupidest holiday travel complaints” if you want a laugh. My personal favourite was someone giving a negative comment on the Coliseum in Rome: “Terrible Wi-Fi”

I to am very happy with the day 3 of release and can’t wait to see what the next year will bring.

I was quite shocked when I had everything installed and configured @ 18.08.20 03:45.
I did not experience any problems at all. And I have to say the same as the OP: WOW.

Smooth install, smooth configuration, smooth gameplay, and top notch graphics! I’m in heaven!

Now, if I could only get my DelanClip setup to work with FaceTrackNoir, everything would be perfect!

I also didn’t have any problems. Other than my own slow wifi, the download was uneventful. The game itself has some bugs, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s absolutely stunning. It will continue to improve and I’m excited for the future…

I installed the sim this morning via Steam and all went really well. Pretty painless and the sim is just amazing. Loving flying around and experiencing so much that I thought would never happen in a flight simulator.
Plus, it is only going to continue to get better.

There are definitely lot of problems, especially in the peripheral stuff like UI and UX. Some truly dreadful decisions in UX, honestly. Flight planning is one of the worst experiences I have ever seen in flight sims, including combat flight sims. Having the assets download a separate process in day 1. You have to zoom in to get access to high detail during manual caches instead a simply selecting the detail level of a selected area. Reassigning an input to different function being a multi step process instead of an option to one-click reassign like most games. All breathtakingly foolish UX choices.

But the core flight experience is indeed wow.

I think a lot of people are having a hard time understanding how machine learning / “AI” works, and are disappointed by the lack of accuracy in whatever city they grew up in. It can not be 100% accurate. Consider that companies like Dovetail charge 20-30 dollars for modeling a small 30km strip of land, largely full of generic trees and buildings. What they have done here with the entire world is simply incredible.

Downloaded it (14 hrs. -slow bandwidth), installed it, and ran it without issues. It looks like it’s going to be great. Now if I can only get the Twin Otter and Fokker 50 I used to fly in FSX Steam and XPlane!

Why is that complaint stupid? In most countries taxi drivers, and other people from the hospitality industry, can speak a few words in the main world languages, enough to be able to do their job. After all it’s in their benefit to be able to communicate with their customers. If they can’t, the customers will take their business somewhere else.

Agreed. The parts of the world I am familiar with, I can see it is not photorealistic but that a large building has been placed where there is a corresponding one in real life.

The places of the world I have never seen are mind-blowingly convincing - so it goes to show how little detail is actually missing.

The one exception to this would be bridges - I am finding the fact that they all look the same (even iconic ones) to be somewhat immersion-breaking.

Well for now I take generic bridges than the same city textures no matter if you’re in Africa Europe or Australia

I understand the need to say Thank you to Asaobo for this beautifull product, and I duly agree on. But using "stupid’ and “haters” will certainly not make those forum more friendly and less courtyard. You may understand that some folks not getting their game to work because they even could not download it, or it is crsahing very 30 mn may get angry.

I totally understand there are issues with the game, and many of those issues are very much legitimate and understandably frustrating. My comments were directed to individuals who seem to just be looking for something to gripe about (there are far too many of them). It’s laughable the comments I’ve seen here and on reddit that show no understanding of the history of flight simulators and the reality of how revolutionary this product is, warts and all. You could drop these folks into a real airplane and they’d complain about the actual earth not meeting their expectations. I’m just saying, let’s all have some gratitude for what they’ve created, bc wow. It’s amazing. And it has issues. Both can be true.

tend to agree. But the best with Trolls is to not feed the beast, so they die by themsleves and you stay in good company, you know.

I agree with you, and I am more than happy that they published maybe before all these bugs and misses were solved because I could not stand anymore to seeing those videos of wonderful sceneries of every single part of the world out of the box (so good that puts to shame a lot of expensive payware sceneries and surclasses any ortho4XP free scenery that I patiently downloaded month after month…). I know, many people find not right to publish an uncomplete product, but I love to test and contribute to the developement of a MASTERPIECE even if I paid for it (much less than a small parts of the sceneries alone). This is a milestone, I’m sure about that, and for sure requires a lot of further developement, but I like to have it now and not in 2022…!

I also add that for flying IFR you hardly need any ortho4XP since you are more focused on reading HSI and FMC than on enjoying the landscapes (that you probably don’t see because you are in the middle of the clouds, or at night…). Nevertheless I downloaded a lot of photoreal maps that took me a lot of time and I always miss an area that I decide to fly to). I have a good connection (about 60 Mbit) and I am amazed how fast MSFS2020 downloads a totally new area at that level of detail. It’s like a miracle to me…
