Fine list although I could easily double its size. I’m not holding my breath as to fixes.
VOR and needles work for me. Sometimes you get a wonky VOR/DME station that actually only does DME so no needlework, but DME distance still shows on the Garmin. Test VOR with another aircraft to ensure this is not the problem.
Thanks for your answer. I do however know how to work with VOR beacons in any other plane. It just that there’s only one gauge for it in the porter and it doesn’t recognize it when I change the nav output from GDS to VLOC, except for ILS.
Anyone try and steer the float version in the water? Seems there’s a maximum deflection of 20 degrees left and right but once it hits these limits it no longer turns but rather plows sideways in a straight line. Conducted tests with water rudders down and no wind. Impossible to turn in a circle. Default 172 does this ‘ok.’
Yeah, I had this as well with the limited turning in water.
Also, when I turn on the engine/throttle up on the water it violently pulls to one side and full rudder can’t stop it. Idling on water would sometimes just make it spin in circles.
I confirm: the amphibian Pilatus can’t be effectively steered on water, no matter if the water rudders are up or down.
A real pity, because the float version is very interesting… please Asobo fix it!
Appears some planes are more affected than others. I can still steer the default 172 amphib with some effort but the PC-6 is completely defective in this regard. Comparing these two in 3-4kt winds leaves no doubt.
The yaw is indicated by the slip/skid indicator. You adjust the rudder trim in flight to trim out any pilot rudder input. Also the slip/skid indicator can be used as an aid. The trim indicator really comes into play while on the ground so you can set the trim for take-off. In lieu of having a gauge I hold the trim for a while until it must be at full right for take-off and then adjust in flight as you make power changes.
have exactly the same problems ! V disappointing as 172 with floats is a tad underpowered by my reckoning to cope with the extra drag—up date please, soonest!
