Note 1) I tried looking this up, and did not find an article with the specific issue I had.
Intro) I do not like to reload from the world map after each flight. So once I “end the flight” by shutting off the avionics (to make sure it’s recorded in the log) I turn the systems back on and start a new flight.
Issue) When doing so and I begin a new flight, the auto-ATC breaks. It no longer responds to ATC. Even when I turn it off and on again. This is annoying.
Note 2) I use the auto-ATC during take-off and landing operations so I can focus on not crashing.
Yeah, sadly been a thing since release as it only recognises one flight at a time. Your only option is to end the current flight, back into the main menu and create your new flight.
Forget in-game ATC, it’s a lost cause, always has been (since the FS2004 years). Switch to either SayIntentions.AI (highly recommmended) or BeyondATC or at least Pilot2ATC. Or VATSIM, but that’s a different story.
I’ve never really used in-game ATC seriously in the last 20 years, but especially after switching to SI, I find the default ATC a joke. Nevermind that it doesn’t have AI. It doesn’t even have voice recognition or at least free text input.
It’s as if comparing a study level aircraft with a default one which has 90% of its switches INOP. And some more.
AI traffic has been implemented as Experimental for BATC. Works pretty well, with some glitches. But only at the supporter level at the moment. Still a lot better than default.
Well, if you don’t use it then your opinion is worthless. And your analogy to complexity of the default planes, there is plenty of MSFS players who are happy with default planes. Considering how popular this game is on xbox I’d say most people don’t bother with study level addons.
Easy there. This isn’t a gripe thread. I understand the frustration too. It annoys me to have to break immersion cause the game continuity is…lacking, and I hate sub-only type third-party mods too. I would prefer donate/subbing to be optional, but you cannot blame them for wanting to make a prophet on their IPs. However, if there is no way to fix this without mods, I will just have to make do flying VFR for a continuity flight or just have to reload.
The game loads pretty fast, though I lag at busy airports when trying to land, but otherwise loading in to a flight does not take more than a minute.
So I hopped back on MSFS 2024 hoping something changed. Things have changed, but one thing that has not is ATC being broken. I dared to change my Flight Plan slightly and ATC started telling me to climb indefinitely again. Both of the Sim Updates have been released and it’s still broken.
They are up to “climb and maintain FL 650” and increasing as we speak. I tried letting my IFR drop and re-requesting. Didn’t work. So I am just staying at 400 and letting ATC ramble aimlessly. Hopefully it will fix itself when I reach approach. Otherwise I’m landing VFR.
EDIT: Up to FL 810 and increasing. They must think this Longitude is a space shuttle.
Why are people attempting to use the ingame ATC. Its awful. SayIntentions or BeyondATC are miles better. SayIntentions has a free version with lower quality voices which are probably as good as the defaul MS ones.
how are you going to do a vfr flight with BeyondATC or SayIntentions. They need to step up their game. Until then, the only option is to use default atc. I think Say Intentions supports vfr phraseology , but not traffic awareness.
BATC sent me into a mountain more times than the default ATC did when vectoring me for approach. It requires simbrief flight plan, it’s constantly late with descend instructions in busy airspace, it generates AI traffic only along the planned route and if you decide to land on a different airport there will be no planes on the ground.
