Description of the issue:
Comms windows are not sized properly and end up unusable
I can’t really exactly get a screenshot of the issue because it’s what isn’t seen that is the problem but in the ‘Communication’ window the options at the bottom get cut off. Sometimes there are options down there and you cannot even see any of them. Sometimes it’s just too small.

Yeah, it seems to have got slightly worse after the SU2 fix for me. Not only is the window not scrolling conversations to the bottom correctly (which has happened since day 1) but now the response options are mostly cut off too.

There is an additional problem. When using Chinese language (and other East Asian languages, like Japanese), some text on the ATC panel cannot be displayed (some options do not show any text, just null).
Whenever I try to use the ATC, I get so frustrated.
It’s not just the options not visible at the bottom of the window, nor the fact that only a limited number are shown (making it extremely awkward to scroll through the list while you are trying to fly a plane), but also the actual options are so limited.
Part way through a planned flight, I decided I didn’t have the time to complete it, so I wanted to change to do an “emergency” landing at a nearby airport. But the ATC window did not give me the option to cancel the IFR, nor did it give me a list of nearest airports to contact to request a landing.
This ATC is certainly a backward step from FS2020, which was bad enough. Why on earth did they change it for the worse, and how come any reviewer did not point out the obvious problems (presuming every change is reviewed by at least one other person)?

• Only two and a half fields showing and after using for a little bit it reduces to just one field. Can’t scroll to the bottom entries at all.

On a flight yesterday I noticed some improvement and a bit of a workaround. I could see the option(s) some of the time and could click the message/response I wanted to send. If clicking on the option didn’t generate a response, I entered the number of the desired response on the keyboard and that worked. I was able to complete an entire IFR flight plan with ATC enroute/approach, landing and ground control. Very successful. Very enjoyable!
Have updated to newest beta and the issue is still there for me on Xbox series x
Yes ATC is a mess. In addition to the issues with box size and missing (or hidden) options, ATC fails to keep up with the sim: after take-off clearance ATC fails to scroll to next message often and does not re-engage until landing (at same airport). So no way of interacting with ATC during the circuit, approach and landing. When approaching a new airport, ATC fails to update and reveal closest airport but does display airports further away. When it does display the closest airport within 2 miles, clicking on Tower has caused CTD once and frozen computer once, of only two attempts. Both crashes occurred while using ATC in VR. So far testing SU2 beta 1.4.11 has been good except for the ATC.
OMG this still not fixed…

Exactly! – the ATC is useless (beyond ATC is light years ahead and it is kind of terrible but I don’t regret throwing them a few $ either), Career mode is deeply broken (Neofly is mostly better as basic as it is), 80% of the planes have serious issues, but instead they work on the EFB… I mean yeah, it’s better but the priorities are just way off (and simbrief is still better and it’s free). Not that you can load that route into most of the planes avionics, that’s also broken.
I bought the BN-2 off the marketplace and they have screwed up even that, it’s the downlevel version – so now I’m stuck until they decide to fix that (a year? maybe?)

I can’t believe this is still a issue in the beta after the 5 or 6 updates they have had. very hard to fly when u cant do anything with the atc.

Today the ATC panel seemed to be improved. I was able to respond to instructions, request an IFR flight plan mid-flight. It does need a lot of tinkering to see the responses and it does not scroll on it’s own. Still very much a work in progress.

The only way I’ve been able to see all the options or have a scroll bar is to stretch the bottom of the ATC box. It then normally snaps back to it’s previous size. But when ATC options show up, the box seems to expand to fit them (screenshot 1) or show the scroll bar as it did before (screenshot 2).
Sometimes the last response option is cut off, but if I put my mouse cursor in that box, it shows the whole response.
I make no guarantees but it’s a workaround for me that makes ATC a lot easier to deal with until they make it work as it did previously.

Thanks but that still does not cut it. They should have the code from 2020 to make it right. This still missing 3 options

I know this is the beta section, but I saw in the original report that this bug was not happening prior to the beta.
I’m not in the beta program at all, but I noticed the exact same problem yesterday on the main release. I didn’t think to try resizing the window to get the ATC options back. I also can’t say when this problem would have surface for me because I hadn’t flown since December.
I’m not sure if this would affect this specific bug tracking, but I wanted to throw my voice out there that it isn’t just a beta related problem in case the info is useful.
