Audio popping/crackle in MSFS 2024

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: When flying in VR in my Pimax Crystal Light I get continual audio popping/crackle noises. These were not present in 2020 with the same peripherals.

This is a really headache inducing glitch. I am most interested to hear if others have this issue as well. I can see forum threads that others did in MSFS 2020. I could not find any solutions to try. And also, i think 2024 is still in early access mode.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
It was happening when my community folder was empty. I have since added my Cowansim 500E helicopter.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
intermittently

Clean sound for me. The only sound degradation I get is from VFR radio communication. Which is normal and varied based on line of sight and distance.

Just wanted to say that I went for a free flight in the r66 Robinson this evening. Quite a lengthy flight and had clean audio - which was lovely.

When I fly helis I have the Honeycomb Bravo switched off. I will see if the problem is still there on a fixed wing flight tomorrow with teh Bravo back on. I have also checked all the cables from the Bravo are well plugged (sometimes the rear cable is not always stable.)

This isn’t just a VR issue, I’m having it also. Happens sporadically and only in MSFS 2024. Never had this in MSFS 2020.

Sometimes it occurs in the main menu, but most of the time during a flight.

Same here, mostly when panning view. All aircraft.

Found the reason: Too high graphic settings for your hardware. Reduced the setting to Medium and sound was fixed for me.

• I also have the problem with the Pimax Crystal in MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024. However, in MSFS 2020, I do not get the audio problems if I use a different audio headset other than the Pimax’s.

Unfortunately, I can’t get Bluetooth audio devices working in MSFS 2024. The audio just stops once flights begin. So back to hearing the audio crackling.

Next time you get audio crackling, look to see what your CPU is doing. It happens to me at the moment when my CPU hits 100% load, which seems to be happening often for me, I am gearing towards there being a problem with windows version 24h2 causing my CPU to spike.

I haven’t been able to narrow down the exact cause yet, I’m still investigating.

Yes, it is my CPU hitting 100% that causes the issue here as well.

Are you on windows 24h2 by any chance?

Yes I have Win11 24H2.

I’ve decided to go the nuclear option and fresh install windows 11 24h2, I’ll let you know if it works out or not.

Fingers crossed.

Edit: Before I did the reinstall I looked through my bios just to double check everything and I discovered by accident that a certain bios setting on my MB called “AMI Native NVMe Driver Support” which defaults to ON in my ASUS z390-F has caused me most of the performance problems I have been having with windows 11 24H2. I turned this OFF just now and the CPU spikes have stopped and so has the audio crackling that resulted from the spikes.

Mine is far from 100% and I hear those darn bugs all the time/

This has stopped happening for me. Both in helicopters and in GA aircraft. (I do not do civilian aircraft).
