This video which I found has seemed to have fixed the issue! https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/Iq1DkIL25XU

I’m also experiencing this. Flying the Fenix out of the default 2024 KSAN when all of a sudden I get a crackling sound, then the sound will cut out then a small stutter. This will happen every like 7 to 10 seconds. This is not in VR by the way.
Asus Tuf Gaming B550 Plus
Asus Ryzen 7 5800X3D
Asus Geforce 4080 RTX OC Edition
64GB DDR4 Ram 3600Mhz
EVGA 850W Power Supply
1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4
Gigabyte M27Q Pro Monitor 240Hz
Windows 11
i’ve a similar problem but i notice not only on VR. The crackling appear when my 1%Low fps go down for 1 second and (in my case) was for che sim cache. I’ve to delete manually every time
I also experienced the sound issue. I set the texture resolution (graphics settings) to medium, and this seems to have solved the sound problem. But now I can’t fly the Ini Airbuses because of the display bug caused by the lower texture resolution setting. Catch 22..
For those dealing with audio popping/crackling, may I recommend you download and run a software package (free) by the name of LatencyMon. It’s a latency monitor that I learned how to use when doing a bunch of audio/video work years ago.
Essentially, when you run it (and hit the green arrow/play button) the software will demonstrate whether or not your PC is encountering high levels of latency. It displays the system instance, if any, that is causing latency/spikes. From there, you simply Google Search the word latency, followed by the name of the program/dll name it identified, and you’ll find great recommendations on ways to effectively mitigate each.
I’ve done this for years, and it’s 100% necessary when MSFS, or any PC intensive program, is running on a system that hasn’t truly been “tuned” and/or optimized.
After my last build, and the new windows 11 update, I noticed tons of latency I needed to solve for. There are amazing tricks to get things running smooth, and I highly recommend keeping LatencyMon in your toolbox to run from time to time.
Good luck!
Thank you @StingUSA for this excellent tip, I took your advice and tried Latencymon for the first time and it steered me in the right direction to rid my system of latency issues and I have managed to eliminate the audio popping and stuttering.
I had the same issue which is driving me mad. I dont know Pimax if it is a native PCVR device or it is encoding the image as it does in Quest but in my case luckly I manage to fix it. I found out that the sound was not cracking if the audio was set to my desktop audio but only on Quest.
I am using a Quest3 with Meta Quest Link app for PCVR which is encoding the image to H264. I was using 960 Mbps bitrate (max available) and that was my issue. I lowered the bitrate and it was fine afterwards.
Test your audio on your desktop audio device. Check if it still cracks?
Hi all
I had this annoying crackle sound artifacts since FS2020 was born and FS2024 continue the tradition …
SOLVED completely setting Affinity of my CPU (my is i-9 9900k 8 cores) like this :
2,4,6,8,10,12,14 ( or if your system goes better : 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15)
Pair core numbers are all Phisical cores, FS runs better on Phisical instead the Logic cores.
Core “0” zero left off because used by System.
Use Task Manager to set the CPU affinity look for FS2024 exe, click right mouse button and select the Affinity then Active cores as shown before
This is simplest method but need re-setup at avery flight !
Personally i use a licenced copy of “PROCESS LASSO” this way don’t need every time to change CPU Affnity
have you checked to see if NVIDIA audio drivers are uninstalled. go to device manager and remove them there in sound, video and game controllers section.
everything that says NVIDIA there can be deleted. They can induce popping and studders and the only purpose if them is to drive monitor speakers. never hurts to delete them. they tend to reinstall after every video driver install.
It only happens to me when using Pimax audio. If I have any other audio source it’s fine.
I’m not sure that issues on Pimax could be related to latency.
I have it on Pimax too, but only with MSFS2024 and it’s HDMI audio nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe it’s the NVIDIA audio drivers.
Yepp, crackling sound appears to happen after long flights, it is almost like one is running out of memmory or overprocessing the CPU.
Im getting a bit too, everytime when i land
Think its scenery etc loading in
Noticed it also happened when an area over london i was flying loaded up to high res, small stutter and audio crackle
I had it on the Pimax in both 2020 and 2024. In 2020 I solved it but using a Bluetooth headset. Now we have another thread on here about Bluetooth audio not working when 2024 starts up. ![]()
It drives me crazy as the performance otherwise appears to be very smooth.
I take it the audio popping/cpu spikes arent limited to SU1 beta?
Also having it with su1 beta + pimax and 14900k (apparently the older nvidia video driver doesnt help)
Having the same issue. Definitely connected to scenery load.
i solved my crackling switching from 7950x3d to 9800x3d
I run Windows 11 and since 24H2 there was massive stuttering and audio pops and crackles.
Deleted the Nivida audio driver and all is well, tried my hardest to make it happen and could only do so by going crazy moving the view around as fast as I could.
i now only get popping when the whole sim is about to implode. Islandsimpilot recommended the nvidia drivers and its been clutch
