As seen in other cases in MSFS, on August 12, 2026 there will be a total solar eclipse, I expect to catch and picture it on the sim.

I’ve flown in solar eclipses in the sim before - it’s pretty cool! First time was by accident and I thought the lighting had broken completely

Where I live (SW-Germany; 48.99, 8.48) tomorrows eclipse is all the rage, special goggles are sold out unfortunately. We expect a 90% masking just before sunset.

Vividly remember the total eclipse right here in 1999, it still gives me goose bumps:
seeing the corona, the sudden darkness, the cold, the birds falling silent…
MS2020 again at max total of this event: its still a bright sunny day, almost zero masking:

Kudos to Asobo that they have reworked their planetarium so thoroughly. Not for them nerdy astronomers but those specialists in celestial nav of the golden age of aviation …

Very nice! Watched it from Bilbao - Just realised I could have gone there for real and stayed a week in a five star hotel for what it cost to watch it in MSFS on a PC 
I have to admit I am vocally critical of the sim most of the time on here, but the fact it can render the eclipse like this is a great achievement. Well done Asobo.
Go to LEBB (Bilbao) and face towards the sun. Set time to about 1822 12th August (or earlier if you prefer to watch the change). Use Clear Skies. At 1826Z you get totality..

I’ve seen two for real and this is almost as good as being there! (Although no solar effects such as prominences, sadly).
And don‘t forget to wear real dark glasses in front of your screen!
