I heard around that autopilot 2 is pretty much for the airplane to land for you, is this true ? If not what is it and how to use it ?
Not true, ap1 and ap2 is used dependant on the pilot flying, it just takes input from either side, you can auto land with just 1 ap
For ILS Appoaches CAT III an airplane MUST have (at least) two redundant autopilot systems. In normal flight procedures, the Pilot in command (PIC) may decide which one of the two autopilots he will use (activate) during flight.
In an Airbus, ILS approach (APP) can only be activated, when BOTH autopilots (AP1 and AP2) are activated before (in this configuration AUTOLAND for CAT III approaches is possible).
In case of RNAV approaches, one AP (AP1 or AP2) is sufficent.
