I may be asking a “non-realistic” question, but in P3D/FSX, most autopilots allowed me to engage an Altitude hold whilst allowing free use of aileron control. Is this possible in the default FS2020 airplanes?
If not, is anyone aware of a mod to do this?
I miss that feature too, as unrealistic as it may be, it’s useful for sightseeing to be able to maintain altitude but turn freely without having to be in the cockpit to use the heading bug. Not aware of a mod as of yet.
Coming from X Plane none of the aircraft could do that and many would disconnect the AP if you tried. When I flew in real life, the planes that I rented did not have autopilots so I am limited to sim experience only but I suspect that trying to override the servos would result in AP disconnect IRL. I know what you mean though. It is kind of nice. I fly long range fixed wing UAVs for fun and one of the autopilot modes allows me to override it but it will snap back to stabilized as soon as I let go of the stick. -Lauren
