[AzurPoly Group] - Transall C-160

This is from the manual:

But nothing about power settings that I can find

Rotation speed without the weight of the aircraft being considered is quite useless.

I just posted what’s in the manual - didn’t write it

I know I hope the devs can do an update where they could add takeoff and landing data (cards) to the EFB, that would make sense. They had access to the real plane so they ought to have that information and it is not very difficult to turn some tables into a nice reference card in the EFB.

Nice review above though. I did see reference to an autopilot in the manual that isn’t the EFB though:

Not bought this - just manual browsing to see if it looks good

There is an AP in the plane indeed but is very very basic. It can hold pitch, it can hold altitude, and it can do heading select with some work (it is very difficult to move the heading bug). But that’s it. The AP won’t track a VOR or ADF, no ILS and of course no navigation at all, you just have to point the plane in the direction you want to go… The HSI does point to VOR or ADF stations so you can navigate in a crude way.

how’s VR performance? ATR was rough in that regard…

As a tactical aircraft you would not fly fms civi style and ils wise a glidescope indicator would be the maximum, everything that sends a signal out from the plane in a non controlled military crypted way after my experience would be a no go and such i believe they fly by vor and tacan assisted by a map. That is at least what i understand from Danish c-130 pilots.

However if the french Air cargo postal guys used it, there should be a more civilian version

My super quick reaction is: YES! Love me the turboprops, and being cargo is all the better. It feels crazy floaty and sluggish on landing, that’s something I’m going to need to learn.

I wish the AP could show you VS hold. I’m sort of guessing.

Feels right in my Pro-Casual wheel house. Looking forward to some Janet flights to get a better feel.

this is a really nice addon, yet another from azurpoly.

i feel like they were super clear about the plane not shipping with a fully functioning fmc out of the gate. it’s been in all their promo materials and is pretty clearly stated in the manual in a number of spots. not really sure what the issue is here.

i am having some trouble with a couple of systems and i am not sure if they are not modeled currently or maybe i am doing something wrong. the methanol system doesn’t seem to add any rpm or power although i can see the tanks draining. also, the pressurization system buttons work but i can’t seem to affect any of the gauges.

for anyone reading through this thread, please know that radio navigation works fine in this plane. you can tune stations and even shoot an ils approach if you want. in its current state it is fine, but azurpoly has stated that they will be adding fmc/flight plan capabilities down the road. be aware of what you’re getting into today and you won’t be disappointed

Had an 2 hour flight right now and several take-offs and landings later I can say I really enjoy this plane. It’s different, but in a positive way.
Sounds are fantastic, but when playing with headphones those high tones really make you lower the volume.

FPS we’re good, when vortex effect is turned off. Love the UV lights in the panel und for shure the flares are cool. The fact that you can view backwards on the opened cargo door is also a great addition to the sim.

A simple Nav system would be great but the map in the EFB is really better than nothing. Here a dark mode for night flight would be nice.
The Transall is absolutely great for hand flying. Without a glass cockpit you are completely focussed on flying and not a passenger in the cockpit.

Thanks AzurPoly, I like it !

I’m leaning that way too but it’s early days. Initial impressions are very good.

This plane is fantastic, however I really wish it had a retro-fit GPS and ability to follow a flight plan like the Asobo DC-3. That is a must have feature in my opinion.

This is my least favourite form of navigation. I understand that it is probably better as it requires less work and understanding. By choice I fly VOR and ADF in all planes but when I’m feeling lazy if it is available its GPS. I don’t want it, I’ll fly the plane as it’s intended in its design. Each to their own though and I understand why you would want it.

I must admit though it’s looking like a really good addon but I’ll hold my opinion just yet..

I like to fly the plane as it is suppossed but adding a retrofit GPS seems a good idea as long as the plane can’t follow the GPS route. The GPS is good as a map or to know which heading to fly.

I’ll go with that if it’s what people want. Not for me but let’s face it in the current world most will always have access to GPS in case things go wrong. :+1:

From Azurpoly.

Edit: still beta here.

I can not figure out how to disable ALT HOLD Mode. Can some give me advise please. Thansk in advance.

What this thing needs is animated paratroopers that can be deployed. I can see me and my flying buddies making paratrooper training drops together in multi-player. That would be simply awesome. The DC-3 implemented this before Asobo scooped up the model and abandoned that feature.

Agree. I’m not of the age now where jumping out of airplanes is enjoyable. But I certainly was:blush::+1:
