Bandwidth too low in MSFS 2024

But maps don’t load, can’t really play.

Changed and flushed my DNS, fixed missing ground and terrain textures but maps don’t load in free flight, so can’t select an airport correctly.

Getting “low bandwidth” for the first time in FS2024 since 3 days now.
All speedtests of my internet connection show fine results…
250Mbit cable internet, Germany.

Same here all well since launch-now too low bandwith occuring at least a couple of times a week. Ended up reinstalling MSFS2024-constantly crashes PC to black screen. Out of interest MSFS2020 works perfectly.

Glad it is not just me then. For the last two or three weeks, I have been plagued by poorly loading ground textures.
Previous to this, everything was mainly fine, pretty much since launch, apart from a few hiccups, esp on Sunday afternoons.
No changes have been made on my end. I do not get the low bandwidth messages, I think microsoft is quietly throttling the data stream from the servers.

Now everything is jumping into view directly below my aircraft, photogrammetry is shockingly bad, all jigs and jags and major roads do not load - ever, never mind the traffic on them.

Something has quietly been changed over the last few weeks or so, post SU2 and the streaming quality is now pants.

I never manage a full flight anymore. I take off, check the ground textures and have had enough after a couple of minutes.

Report card. D - Much room for improvement.

Still ongoing for me.
You can even see in the Windows ethernet overview that it is actually sitting there doing NOTHING while I’m waiting to load into a free flight. (SU2)

Edit: it’s not always happening, sometimes the loading is OK when switching to another free flight location

I was dumb enough to buy the aviator’s edition as I had so much fun with MSFS 2020.

Since buying MSFS 2024 I haven’t spend more than 2 or 3 hours flying. Occasionally I open up the game and still get completely frustrated. Starting up the game takes about five minutes, career mode is unusable due to long loading times in the menu. Creating a free flight ist fast, loading it up gets me hovering over the departure airport for five minutes until I get in the plane.

Once in the cockpit it’s grey desert with textures popping up over the next few minutes. Once I thought I could start flying and look around in the cockpit I realize the game hasn’t even loaded all the textures. It’s a complete catastrophe.

I thought my internet bandwith was too low until I realized with both my 250 Gb/s as well as my 1000 Gb/s connections most bandwith isn’t even used at all. The game strictly uses 20-25 mb/s and complety ignores the available 980 mb/s that are left.

Why Microsoft, why? The game is not usable. I wasted so much money for loading screens, loading animations and textures popping up.

Of couse I meant Mb/s :-/

I’m sorry you are experiencing this but thats not what most people see. What specs are you using and maybe the community can help, I’ve logged over 300 hours in MSFS 2024 and its great.

I have a 3400 euro lenovo legion laptop, ethernet connection always at 1 Gb/s. I just bought the game and can’t even play it, saying my bandwith is too low, extremely long loading screens like more than 10 minutes. My laptop is not the problem, I think that an i9 14900HX and a RTX 4080 is more than enough to run the game. My ethernet connection is not the problem either like said before 1Gb/s is waaaay more than enough to run the game, I play Star Citizen all the time, not a single problem in sight but mfs2024 impossible! I checked my NAT type, firewall settings, TCP ports and all that stuff even my router setting and UPnP setting. Nothing did the trick. Very disapointed AGAIN. Last time was when I bought Sea of Thieves and was not even able to play it once. Thumbs up for Microsoft.

If you go to:

What do you get in terms of connectivity to the azure servers in your region? Some users report issues here and find using a VPN solves it for them. Ideally you want to be below 40ms latency if you can help it:

As in the Azure latency test I constantly have a ping about 25-30 ms. My connection bandwith is 1 Gb/s. Still the textures i.e. around the autopilot buttons need several minutes to load and flying at about 500-2000 meters above ground only generates ugly triangle polygons instead of trees. Completely useless compared to MSFS 2020.

Just add this to the list of reasons flight sim should NOT be so dependant on network connection.

tell me about it its geting worse with the servers

Current Azure latency in Europe is above 70, my flights are not loading - even on a Map page I am not able to search for the airport

Hey Asobo/MS,

I uninstalled and downloaded your game from your servers in 3-4 minutes. (1Gbps connection, 5090 RTX, 64GB RAM) Loading any free flight gives me a low bandwidth issue. I am in one of the main UK cities with a fibre. Are you throttling the game? Even when using VPN the game does not work.

Unlimited MB selection, deleted rolling cache, then put it to 50 GB … nothing works

I had the same problem - try the solution I gave in Avsim

Solving the 97% and Bandwidth Install Problem - MSFS (2020/2024) Tips and Tricks Forum - The AVSIM Community

When Flight Simulator 2024 is off, my internet speed goes to the top, almost no jitter or lag. As soon as MSFS2024 is on, jitter goes 12ms and global speed goes to 10Mb.
I’m not sure it’s a motem or MSFS issue.
I tried the solution that you turn MSFS on with the cable disconnected and reconnect it only when MSFS goes to the message requiring connection. MSFS worked for a while at top network speed than got back the the 10Mbd….
I am hating it.
