Been pretty quiet so far but it needs to be said

Exactly. When has this concept ever worked while maintaining high standards?

Just look at higher education. In order to “make it work for everyone”, the standards of the curriculum have been degraded over the years so that it works for everyone. The end result is a dumbed down product. Gone are the days of striving for, and through self effort, achieving a goal. Rather today, it is “lets be all inclusive, even at the expense of quality”. This is, I am afraid, is what we just witnessed with this SU5.

I know it is, but many or most people will never go look at the release notes. Since the new interaction mode is turned on by default and people are essentially forced to confront it they should have been “forced” to see an explanation as well. ideally a tutorial would have popped up the first time you spawn in after the update.

Its insane!, ive been simming for 20 years and this is a joke…they are clearly trying to make it fit for Xbox users and created all kinds of issues.

ROLL this back now guys, its a mess, create a separate game for console users for gods sake!!

back to P3D v5 for me…PMDG must be spitting teeth at this point as they are banking their future on this!

On my PC, the clicking comes from the trim adjustment (up and down) on the Icon A5…loud click with every button push. This does not happen on 3rd party addons. I only fly the A5 from the default planes.

I know. I said that… “Or maybe the testers did find these issues but they’re ignoring the feedback and still releasing because the date has been set for a while?”

I don‘t seem to get this „xplane runs on a phone“-thing…
Is it because there is a mobile version of it? I‘ve never even considered using that but at least the pc-version is in no way similar to the mobile one…

You did clear the community folder, clear rolling cache, clear manuale cache, patch the game AND patch the content before throwing a tantrum, right?

Had a feeling these devs were going to be awful even before launch. Always trust your gut. I’ll take the 150£ L for now :frowning:

Actually, that’s exactly what it is. They are features bundled in this release. Called release notes.

I don’t know. It’s the second factual error I see from you. Hence my reply.

I don’t see the one related to the other. I’m just stating there are release notes (with a link) while you literally state “there are no release notes”

Are there problems in this release? Sure. I’m not disputing that.

@nandokitty i guess you are thinking of a changelog rather than release notes.

I agree, it would be nice to have a full changelog. But there isn’t and there will not be - at least not for this update.

hi, this is the best the game’s ever been for me, i can play in VR at great framerates, it’s still gorgeous, i’m having a great time and it’s like an entirely new game.

appreciate you might be having a bad time but I’m honestly having the most fun in MSFS that I’ve had since launch and could not be happier with this release.

there are definitely a bunch of bugs, some more frustrating than others, particularly the clicking and the weirdness with cards on the route planner where i can’t always see flight time… but this is worlds better than it was 3 days ago and an absolute game changer. would not go back if you paid me.

They did indeed have a beta test team and most of participants posted extensive threads detailing new issues since day one. I am deeply disappointed to see that stuff that was encountered on the very first day still made it into SU5.

There wasn’t much communication from Asobo. We had a few surveys but that’s about it. Apart from them we had very little information yet suddenly SU5 is live and tons of people here and on Reddit are reporting the very same issues we reported what, a month ago? Sad.

Agreed.
I’m sorely disappointed - have not been able to fly continuously even for 15 minutes before everything freezes.
Sometimes just 5 minutes into the flight it freezes.
Thaws out on its own after about 5 min.

You sir, said it all.

At the moment, even the MSFS installer is not working anymore.
REVELATION !!!

This utterly unreliable release is inexcusable.

I worked for decades in R&D in the aerospace industry, going from a young bright-eyed research engineer to a jaded senior manager.

Yes, I do know the pressures to release something on the (fictional) promised date - promised by the unknowing clowns in the upper echelons.

(they had already received their massive bonuses well before the “release” date).

Of course, with commercial aircraft designs we could scare them with safety concerns, etc. but they still did a “cost” analysis - profit vs lives lost.

FYI certain other aerospace designs were subject to less stringent, profit-driven “cost analysis” - i.e. dollars paid out in legal settlements vs cost of additional designed-in reliability.

MS has no excuse for rushing this out - no doubt they simply wanted to sell X Boxes and

MSFS downloads asap.

As far as SAFETY is concerned, they have definitely damaged our health by stressing us out.

Stress is directly related to many illnesses, including High blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, …

This isn’t all – MS is also causing marital problems - when the virtual pilots can’t fly anymore, they will be competing with their spouses for the TV remote control (and we know this can get rather nasty, especially during “Covid times”).

Enuff said.

THIS right here. Fully agree. The nichest of niche market participants want billions and billions invested for their very small portion.

on a side note:

I personally have had ZERO issues with SU5. downloaded and installed fine, is running fine, looks nice to me and I gained ridiculous amount of performance. There are thousands like me, but they don’t come here to just say that.
Should you report bugs and other technical issues? YES! to the right channels and to the right sections dedication to them. But this whole OMG I think it looks worse now blah blah blah… well that’s what you think, I think it LOOKS GREAT!.. I said…you said. It’s all subjective and just opinions without factual data. Why would Asobo care if 90% of market doesn’t care? So you 10% can be happy and they can lose out on billions in revenue? lol seriously?
Complainers have the loudest voice here because the other 90% is out flying and enjoying the sim.

I would lay the blame at Microsofts door, they will be the ones pushing for unrealistic release times, and were probably told so. As for the beta testers, they are gagged, and as far as i have seen they were reporting serious issues.!

And yet, even as a real world pilot you cannot get a computer game running smoothly and a minor alteration to some tooltips has you vexed. This has truly developed into a farce, not the game, but some users reactions to it. The trees look exactly the same (we still await the arrival of the study level trees of course) and… I give up.

I did none of that and it still worked just fine.
