Best examples of Photogrammetry in MSFS?

Oh yes, I love flying over Italy. Rome is exceptionally well done and a joy to fly low and slow over in a Tiger Moth or a Cub, especially late in the day. Wheeling over the Coliseum or the Vatican is amazing and then landing in the Circus Maximus. As with Florence or Venice, you can peer down into the courtyards and alleyways, all beautifully rendered.

Elsewhere, my home city of Hobart Tasmania in Oz is very nicely done and they have even extended the photogrammetry areas to include the eastern shore of the Derwent river including my house.

This one was linked on another thread and is well worth a tour. Antwerp, Belgium.

Nice details, not too much wonkyness compared to some we’ve all seen lol.

Performs well on my potato PC and some nice architecture to see.

Try RealVFR.com. It’s payware photogrammetry around the UK but very realistic. Far better than free UK PG in the sim.

He’s only done Plymouth so far, or am I missing something?

Currently flying over Atlanta, GA (USA), and it’s definitely one of the best. No explosion damage, but very precise and clean renditions of buildings.

A few more for good measure:

I read this quite a few times. Then why is it that some are rubbish and (luckily!) most are really shining?
Jörg did mention in a Q&A once that it depends on the source they can get I believe.

Nice shots Jigsaw!
I just went to check it out myself after you posted. Can confirm it is very good - even with my really low TLOD of 50-70. Not quite as clean as your shots though I think.

– but come on, all of this is amazing!! I still remember this:

Here are some shots I took in Atlanta just now! (sorry if it’s too many lol)

No sure about this one though - must be some sticky rubber on those tyres!

I get horrible melted buildings with 500 mbs plus internet connection….

No clue why

Nice shots! And, yeah, very reflective buildings look always a bit weird in photogrammetry.

As for the internet speed: not sure about that. I mean, I use all photogrammetry cities on the very same internet connection, yet some look great and some look awful (I don’t use rolling cache). I guess really badly optimized photogrammetry probably also may have a much larger data footprint and needs a lot more bandwidth to stream sufficiently fast, but even if you stay in one spot and give it ample time to fully load, it still looks bad in bad cities. There is no substitute for quality.

P.S.: try to limit your posts to 10 images. Any more and the forum software has performance issues loading on mobile devices. Haven’t experienced it myself, but better safe than sorry.

OK noted. Thanks for the tip

Not so much internet speed, I only have (a very solid) 50Mbps and can match and/or better any of the screenshots shown above. In my experience PG quality is very dependent on LOD and my own experiments up to TLOD 8.0 bear this out … Unfortunately for me 8.0 is very hard on my cpu at low altitude so I’ve had to peg back to 5.0 but let me just say that Madrid still looks fantastic (video to follow).
R7 5800X, rtx3060(12GB)

My PC is really on it’s limits so this is tweaked back to LOD 4.5 for smoother recording … even then I have to avoid panning.

Edit: This is too fast and I may have messed up when converting to 60fps video for YT (used wrong filter). Actual fps would have been 40-45.

I took the DA40 TDI for a wonderful flight around Darwin, Australia. The surrounding area has some very nice photogrammetry, it was very enjoyable. Highly recommended!!

I think most of So California looks pretty good from Santa Barbara down to San Diego. But the areas around Los Angeles really bog down my frames if I have PG switched on.

Las Vegas valley is really good too I think (PG, not always the default scenery).

Does anyone else have flattened houses immediately surrounding KPNS in Pensacola, Florida?
Its mostly on the southwest and northeast. I don’t remember bad PG in that area before and I don’t know if it got degraded or if if my memory is just bad…option two is your best bet… but please check if you can. thanks.

Are we allowed to mention freeware mods for PC here?

I would think… “if it is related to the topic”

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/faq#heading--advertising

But I think intension of topic was to discuss original Photogrammetry cities/towns. Possible we see high quality places, we missed till now.

Yeah that was my point. I found a really nice freeware yesterday but of course there are many good ones, and many players won’t be able to use them (Xbox) so not sure I should post it.

I enjoyed looking around Darwin, Australia. Here’s some shots I took (remember, my TLOD is 70 so you will likely see better! I do have fast internet though).

Cairns Australia is also fabulous! It’s a comparatively small area, and the photo love covers all of it.
