Best fast(ish) aircraft with steam gauges?

Hi there! So now that I can finally play again thanks to the patch, can you suggest fastish GA aircraft with steam gauges? Default ones the Robin cap10 is the fastest. I have the spitfire but I’d like something with a better field of vision. Any suggestion.?Thanks!

Freeware some of the modded Cubs may be quite quick but not really steam gauge.

If your talking marketplace payware, the Carenado M20 Mooney is steam gauge and good for 180 knots or so. Seems reasonably good for a Carenado product as well nice plane especially if you add the gn530/430 mod.

The Beechcraft 99 is steam and should be a few knots faster again than the Mooney but that aircraft in sim seems to be targeting people doing virtual economy/airline stuff rather than something to just fly for fun. Read reviews on this one before buying.

The other GA aircraft with good reviews and Steam gauges are the Jabiru’ s and the Paggio P149 but they are both slow.

Neither of the Arrows are going to be faster than the cap10.

Thank you! I was curious about the arrow but yes I’d like something faster. I might try the Mooney, thanks!

The Bonanza turbo mod may be quick enough…you could try it and it’s free

The Bonanza with Rob Young’s Turbo Enabled mod is actually very very good - but it is not Steam gauge.

Mooney is the best. Really recommended.

The Mooney, no contest.

Move seat view 8n the spitfire. She’s perfect

I’ll check the Mooney out, I read good reviews. I agree that moving the seat in the spitfire works pretty well too! Though any flight with her results in crash landing haha. Also: I can’t figure out how to turn atc on! Haha

The mooney is very, very good.
The piaggio 149, albeit much slower (cruise about 130kias@4500ft) is also very good.
Otherwise wait for the justflight turbo arrow, I suppose it will be around 130kias from the videos of the previous sims.
The mooney is on another level though, 170kias at cruise power settings.

I must get the Mooney!

The Mooney is also a good introduction to more complex GA aircraft with retractable gear, spoilers and a controllable speed prop unit with CHT and EGT gauges for mixture management and a fuel flow meter.

If you do get the Mooney be sure to also download the gn530/gn430 mod for the GPS.

The Just Flight Arrow with the new update #3 from yesterday can cruise in the low to mid 130 knot true airspeed range. Mooney, closer to 165. Both are excellent, and both have GNS 530/430 which can have the PMS50 mod described above which is the best mod in the game IMO.

Got the Mooney! Looking forward to testing it!

The Mooney is exactly what I was looking for but I notice fps drops when I fly it, especially when looking around (VR). I compared it in same locations and weather with the cap10 and the spitfire, both work better. Any idea what might be wrong?

The cockpit is a bit FPS intensive but there is also a hit on FPS with the external lights on for some weird reason. Try it with nav/strobe etc turned off.

Haha, ok! I got a steam gauge fast plane to save some fps! Oh well, it’s a nice place I’ll fly it when they fix the cockpit performance. I tried with lights off and it’s a tad better.

It has mixed reviews, but you can check out the EMB 110. Steam gauges and is supposed to cruise at like 220 or something.

And, while not out yet, keep the Twin Otter on your radar.

All these planes are far, far away from the CAP10…
