Hi
I’m essentially looking for an app where I can plan IFR future flights. I’ve currently got them in Excel with columns for From, To, Flight Length etc
I’ve got Volanta and looked at the Roster feature but you can’t filter or sort by length. Map view is good
I’ve got STKP but that doesn’t show the schedule as a map view.
Does anyone know of any alternatives?
I like to plan a fair few flights a few weeks in advance before I plan the route in SimBrief
Many thanks

Little nav map as mentioned above.
I tend to use Navigraph on my phone and plan it in there. It’s useful because I have quick access to the charts for approaches SIDS etc. Horses for courses really and there is nothing wrong with Little nav map. I just like everything in one app but you do have a subscription fee for full access.
Hello,
We ask that people not use General Discussion for help, advice, or troubleshooting. I have moved your topic to Utilities.
Use FR24 to see airliner routes, here is BA: British Airways (BA/BAW) routes and destinations | Flightradar24
This one also works well for real IFR routes that are often used:
Thanks all. I know which routes I’d like to do I’m essentially wondering if there’s anywhere to keep them listed. This is how I have it at thr moment. Would something similar but with a map view
Thanks
You can save these as pre-planned IFR or VFR flights in Little Nav Map, and recall them at any time. You don’t need to have the sim up and running either. LNM operates perfectly as a standalone planner tool. As long as you ran the Scenery Loader at least once after the sim was last updated, the scenery and nav databases between FS and LNM will be synched, so you have confidence all the Instrument Procedures are aligned.
Skyvector has free accounts I think. You can save/load and it’ll bring up a map route for each route once signed in. I think Littlemap might be better for MSFS in terms of a ‘log book’, but this is another web only option maybe.

Opened this one up just now - seems to have a very limited database of airports.
Thank you for the feedback. I plan to continue to add airports to the tool.
Use it extensively for VFR and IFR.
Save the plan, then in MSFS 2024 open the EFB → load the plan → SEND ROUTE TO AVIONICS (loads the route plus fuel/payload into the aircraft setup).
I have added a new option:
Add Custom Airport Feature
Allow users to add their own airports when searching, if they can’t find one in the existing database. Custom airports will be saved locally and appear alongside the built-in airports.
How It Works
When you search for an airport that doesn’t exist, you’ll see a new option to add your own custom airport. You can enter the airport details (ICAO code, name, location, coordinates, elevation, and runway information), and it will be saved to your browser so it’s available for future flight plans.
Custom airports will:
-
Appear in search results just like built-in airports
-
Be marked with a special badge so you can identify them
-
Support export/import along with your favorites
-
Persist across browser sessions
I have add several thousand new airports to the flight planning tool. What gets added (~2,500-3,000 airports):
All remaining medium and large airports worldwide not already included
Popular small airports in underrepresented regions (Africa, Central Asia, Pacific Islands, South America interior)
Notable GA (general aviation) airports frequently used in flight simulators
Airports with unique or challenging runways (short strips, high altitude, island approaches)
Two new features are now in the Review & Export step:
-
Route Preview Map — a non-interactive mini map showing departure (green), waypoints (amber), and arrival (red) with a dashed route line.
-
Fuel Calculator — shows trip fuel, reserve fuel (45 min VFR / 30 min IFR), total required with a visual gauge bar, endurance time, and burn rate details. Warns on long flights (3h+).
Hi, this tool is great! Just one suggestion: it’s a problem that the flight summary with waypoints doesn’t include the heading. That would be useful for VFR.
Thank you very much for your feedback. It is very much appreciated. After taking into consideration your comment, I implemented the following:
Added a collapsible **“Route legs & headings”**section to the Flight Summary that shows each leg with its heading (in degrees) and distance in NM — useful for VFR navigation. It appears when waypoints are present, showing the full route from departure through all waypoints to arrival.
The promise was kept. Simple, quick, and effective for impromptu short flights. Incredible, thank you!
The Performance Calculator is now live in the Review & Export section. It shows density altitude (color-coded), TAS at cruise, takeoff/landing distance estimates with runway length comparison bars and safety warnings, and top of descent distance — all powered by real METAR data when available, falling back to ISA defaults.
