Honestly, this is just insane! I mean sure, there’s glitches and bugs but they make no attempt to hide them. What I’m also glad to see is N1 stable then power on takeoff! The AI actually said “err” at one point, haha love it!
It’s so expensive if you are a flight enthusiast and want to have natural voices for ATC and traffic.
I doubt that there will be many who are willing to invest money in the tool again after x flights with a lot of voices
Between $1.50 and $6.00 for a single flight with premium voices and AI traffic based on their estimations. Still between $0.50 and $2.00 per flight with standard voices. I’ doing like 20 flights per month. Still very expensive. Let’s see.
Sounds like some will find a new hobby.
Not really:
It’s only expensive if you want to use the AI voices (and SayIntentions will be expensive there as well). But if you use the version with offline voices, you only pay the $59.99 once for BOTH the injected and controlled AI Traffic and ATC. So two programs for one price. And with those 100 offline voices and the advanced way it’s implemented this has the potential to be leaps and bounds ahead of anything currently available.
Unfortunately the online AI voice services are still very expensive, and Beyond ATC will have the pay those as well. So it’s like with any new technology. It’ll remain expensive until there are enough players in the market to make it cheaper. That will take a while.
So in essence the only difference between the expensive part and the one-time 59.99-part is the source of the voices. In any case you will get a fully functioning two-pronged ATC and AI Traffic program without any additional cost. And only if you want the enhanced AI voices, it will get expensive.
Considering that many ATC controllers sound like robots in real life, I think the voices provided in the offline package should be more than ok ![]()
Also: offline doesn’t mean you PLAY MSFS offline. It only means the ATC voices are not streamed via the internet but are stored locally on you computer. All MSFS online services of course will still be there.
Also it seems you can use the AI whenever you want as long as you have transmission time left. So you can always chose how much money you actually spend. You can even mix and decide that e.g. the AI traffic will use offline voices while ATC uses AI voices. That’s pretty cool.
I think that’s a pretty good model. A bit complicated - granted - but it offers a solution for everyone: for the hardcore gamer, who doesn’t much care how much money he puts into the hobby, for the serious simmer who wants some AI from time to time, and the ones who only want good ATC and traffic and don’t care much for AI (I would put myself in that category)
No, I get it. But it was really the natural sounding voices that drew me to this product in the first place. I already have Pilot2ATC with offline voices and I guess that’s fine for me, given that BATC with online voices is a little bit out of my league with it’s current price structure.
I understand your point of view. That IS the big draw. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be possible to do both the advanced AI without the subscription to the AI providers. So there won’t be anything more affordable as long as there aren’t more of those AI providers competing with each other. I’m willing to use the offline voices and wait for AI to get cheaper.
In any case the fact that Beyond ATC actually controls all the traffic around you is a huge plus for me since AI traffic in MSFS is pretty sketchy as well. Pilot2ATC is a bit too complicated for my taste. Also it’s only IFR as far as I remember so not for me.
This is a good thing, but personal i think its a total overlkill of invested money for the devs. I have since the start bought every not working ATC addons and will never ever waste a nickel on one more.
I bought none of the previous ones because I didn’t think they were worth it. This time I’m hopeful it will. We’ll see.
Its a day 1 buy for me, no question.
The price model makes perfect sense.
Complaining about the premium price makes as much sense as complaining about why you cant get a Ferrari for the price of a Toyota.
Stick to the normal lifetime version then, its still gonna be the best atc ever produced for a sim.
Well, considering I spent £62 (or there abouts) on the PMDG 737 and use it pretty much weekly, the cost of this justifies itself in my opinion. I’ve been wanting realistic ATC in-sim for as long as I can remember.
On a side note, do we know anything about the AI traffic injection/control side of things? I see no mention of that in any of the packages.
I imagine there will be quite a few who wouldn’t mind dropping $60 on an ATC addon, especially if it’s good. The premium addon subscription doesn’t seem too necessary but it’s good to have it offered for those who are wanting more.
Compared to sayintentions which is a $30 monthly fee without an option to make a one time purchase, this is much more reasonable.
The main FSLTL developer has joined the BeyondATC team and will help them implement direct ai traffic control.
I don’t believe anything further has been unveiled yet.
Cleared for takeout, runeway…
LOL.
My favs right now are “decimal tree” and “traffic for miles” and I totally got directed into terrain yesterday.
Yes I agree that the pricing for BATC is heaps better than SI. What if I’m busy for a few weeks and get say only 4 flights in that month, SI would be over 7 dollars per flight. Say I’m flying a lot and do 20 flights in a month, I’ll use the standard AI voices and probably spend $1 per flight on BATC and still be 10 bucks cheaper than SI.
For sure the subscription model rewards those who use the sim all of the time and don’t get caught up with life, and good for them get the most out of it. BATC pricing is more able to adapt to any usage level at a fair price to the user.
Obviously right now BATC and SI are more complementary than competitors, but that will change as they expand their offerings.
Traffic is included. Everything is included in core version, even all future updates - the only difference you ever have to pay extra for is better voices / voice recognition.
I think I’ve missed something. Sorry if this is obvious. Is there a release date yet?
They haven’t given a date yet, but given the amount of product info coming out recently and the fact that there appears to be a beta release being circulated to testers, the speculation is that it’s going to be Real Soon Now. Whether that’s days, weeks or months still, we don’t know. The most official statement on the FAQ is that they’re hoping ‘for a 2024 release’.
will this be on xbox marketplace too?
Is BeyondATC going to inject realtime ai planes with a data source like flightradar24 or any other?
the scheduled flightplan arent real. The diverting flights, missed approach, go-arounds, delays etc etc from real life are only reflected in PSXT right now.
