EGCC controllers are a prime example, they sound like a best friend.
It depends what you define as āadvantagesā,
-
BATC will have support short time after release, with a much more advanced and accurate vectoring system and accurate integration with traffic.
-
Im using SayI and I agree this is a ācoolā feature. But its not a accurate one, because ATC is not really controlling the traffic .BATC aims to be accurate and give you voices of traffic it actually controls and not random chatter.
-
Currently yes, although I would be surprised if its not coming to BATC as well as its a lot of pressure from people for this.
-
An advantage if you would spend more than 30$ a month on BATC.
-
The biggest advantage and a cool feature for sure. But it also gives inaccurate phraseology and permissions.
I use SayI a lot now and its a cool program. The developers are giving out new improvment every day so they might get fixed over time, but in many things they have a long way to go compared to BATC. SayI is more a cool program than a accurate one.
Not to even get started on the disadvantages SayI has in its current state. Its like, well I got taxi instructions but its really just random letters and always a yes - as it doesnt take in traffic in consideration. Get takeoff clearence from gate? No problem. Landing clearence? Sure, why wouldnt I get it - the program does not know any other traffic exist - and also give it while im at beginning at the approch. It cannot either vector me to land, just a direction to airport in best case if even working. There is a lot to pick on, for now. But fair to say, a lot of experimental features.
In that easyJet sim pilot vid the ATC gives the qnh after instructing him to descend to 17000. Thatās not how it works in UK - so are we still stuck with US rules but with British voices? Major oversight in my view. Qnh is given when transitioning to ft from flight levels and the transition level in London, where he was, is a lot lower than 17000! As a UK user this is basic stuff they are not doing right it seems.
Hopefully something they can sort out but probably after release as itāll be in the sim programme that maybe not so easy to change.
Something to add to their ātodoā list on Discord channel.
Thanks for the response.
Youāre absolutely right. The AI in SayIntentions leaves something to be desired in its current state in terms of realism. Iām hoping BATC will prove superior in that regard.
Of course, the ideal solution for me would be something like a world-wide (or at least USA-wide) full implementation of PilotEdge, or VATSIMāa complete virtual ATC network with real controllers manning every station. Iām not holding my breath.
So, for now Iām looking forward to seeing what AI can do.
They are working with ICAO controllers to get this stuff fixed in the beta. Some things from FAA land have spilled over to ICAO and itās getting worked on. There are several real world ICAO and FAA controllers helping the dev team.
Hearing a US newscaster talk about anything aviation related is always a little unnerving.
This is known to de devs if I am correct.
The app is still in early beta. I heard Captain being a bit annoyed by all the critique that he got. He said (paraphrased): we know our stuff, be patient please. We want to show our progress as early as possible but donāt expect that we already have ticked off all the items on our pre-release list.
So I know, itās difficult to not comment on imperfections just yet, but letās exercise patience and give the devs time to sort everything out.
Cheers.
1 year or 2 years ?
Itās slated for release in 2024. Iāll be more careful using the word āeverythingā next time
Have we got a clue when this jewel could be released? Given the prices policy released, I think it will be soon, but I can be wrong. What do you think, guys? Have you heard something about it? Are there some rumours?
Yes, you have to wonder donāt you? Maybe released as an early access???
As I have understood, current beta testing is not even using the ai injector yet. So I think weĀ“re still a little bit far off from release⦠hopefully Im wrong but I dont think weĀ“ll see batc before q3ā¦
All we got is 2024, but they are finetuning IFR in Beta (which is good sign) and then traffic will be added. Traffic is not finished, so it mainly depends of how much is left of traffic module which is hard to guess(even we know to some degree how far it is). But looking at their progress I would not be surprised if we get this before the summer, but who knows - not sure if even the developers do.
Right now Iām using ProATC, which is a little better than the default ATC, but Iām tired of its bugs and that they donāt update anything or fix anything. We have had no updates for 2 years since its release. Thatās why Iām looking forward to BeyondATC very impatiently.
I use Pilot2ATC. The dev is very helpful and its ATC is a lot better than the default Asobo effort. Updates are still forthcoming too (which is great) despite having bought it years ago when I used it with XP 11.
Having said that, itās a bit rigid (for want of a better expression) and for that reason not really that immersive.
Thatās really why Iām really interested in BATC and why it is on my own radar
Iām a big fan of Pilot2Atc. It has so many advantages over everything else on the market.
- Supports VFR
- Supports IFR
- Supports towered and non-towered
- Supports SAPI5 voices and Amazon Polly
- Supports VR (through Sim4Sky)
- Integrates with Rex Weather
- Assigns runways based on weather
- Dynamic SID and STAR assignment (i.e. you get your SID from clearance and your STAR in the air)
- SimBrief integration
- Supports full voice interaction or keyboard interaction
- Supports intersection departures
- Integrates with ATC Chatter
It doesnāt inject or control traffic, which is one thing I wish it did. One big plus is that the Dave, the developer, is active in the support forums and is constantly pushing out updates.
Will BeyondATC support live traffic?
Very excited for the product should be great, custom injector etcā¦
You mean real life? No. How could it control it?
