Version 1.8.18 EA
Another huge one! The summer 2026 traffic schedule, improved live traffic that flies its real path start to finish more often, the first groundwork for true airspace awareness, a major arrivals and vectoring overhaul, more Ground Handling 2.0, and a long list of fixes and improvements across the board.

Summer 2026 Traffic Schedule Datae[0m
- e[1mRefreshed offline schedule datasete[0m — around a third more flights than the previous set, with much better gate and stand coverage. Taken from earlier in July, this data is bang up to date.
- Note we no longer have a winter schedule toggle — we will be looking to add winter handling in the coming months, but not a completely new winter data set.

Live Traffic Flies Its Real Flight, Start To Finishe[0m
Aircraft that aren’t using your airport now mirror their real-world position through climb, cruise and descent — not just level cruise. They follow their actual descent, fly a real approach, and land on the runway their real track is heading for. If a flight only uses one of your airports, the other end now follows the full process too. Far fewer aircraft drift out of sync mid-flight. Descent calls match reality as well: the clearance goes out when the real aircraft actually starts down, and the STAR named on frequency is picked from where the aircraft really is. Overall a big step up in live traffic accuracy — ultimately it’s only during arrival and takeoff from your airport that we need to take over directing traffic.

Airspace Awareness (Initial Work)e[0m
Initial groundwork for true global airspace data — airspace classes, boundaries and altitude bands. This is prep work for bigger features down the line, but one benefit is already live: the Center frequency selector now uses this data to tune to suitable centers for your altitude. Coverage is now full detailed Center data across most of the globe, with only a few regions (chunks of Russia, Peru, Colombia and Afghanistan) still falling back to the existing Center data for now. Flying in and out of busy airspace like London is now much easier to get a word in! If centers seem quieter, well that is the intention and more realistic!

Please Read — Basic Voices Have Been Removede[0m
As previously announced, the Basic voice model and all of its settings are gone. If a voice setting is currently set to Basic when this build installs, it will be moved to Local automatically. Local is now the offline option offering more breadth of voices, faster response and overall better experience.

Traffice[0m
- e[1mUntowered airport departurese[0m — AI traffic at fields with no tower (Center-only airports, e.g. mountain strips like Telluride) can finally depart. They now take an IFR clearance from the overlying Center with a hold-for-release, push and taxi at their own discretion, hold short of the runway, and request their IFR release before rolling. Previously these aircraft would sit at the gate forever.
- e[1mTraffic at the right altitudee[0m — injected traffic was being placed at its flight-level number rather than its true altitude, so away from standard pressure it sat a few hundred feet off. This is now corrected, but could lead to strange TCAS altitudes because of how Asobo implements TCAS (Fenix, FBW. PMDG confirmed correct).
- e[1mBetter runway line-upse[0m — AI aircraft entering the runway now choose the smooth entry over an acute one, properly follow the taxi nodes to the center line and stop at a more sensible point.
- Fixed a fault that could silently kill the live traffic feed for the rest of the flight, leaving aircraft frozen in place.
- Fixed enroute traffic volume slowly draining away over the course of long flights.
- You may now hear live enroute traffic requesting altitude changes on frequency.
- Backtrack departures for traffic now work correctly again.
- Fixed traffic departures getting stuck in the takeoff roll — an aircraft could pass rotation speed but never lift off, holding the runway and forcing every arrival behind it to go around.
- Fixed a bug impacting freighter registration matching for airlines that fly cargo and passengers on the same ICAO — about 50% of the regs were broken.
- Former Hawaiian aircraft flying as Alaska now wear Hawaiian colours instead of a generic livery (required due to the latest schedule data).
- AIG registration-to-livery data refresh (applies when you use AIG as highest priority).
- Removed or corrected ~20 broken Bravo ATG liveries.
e[1;34m
Departures & Runway Flowe[0m
- e[1mMore realistic departure spacing behind heaviese[0m — wake-turbulence hold times between departures now follow the ICAO standard (Doc 4444). Same-category and heavier-behind-lighter departures (e.g. a heavy behind a heavy) are no longer held unnecessarily, so queues flow more smoothly while still keeping safe separation behind lighter traffic.
- e[1mSmarter crossing-runway coordinatione[0m — at airports with two active runways that physically intersect (e.g. Boston KBOS), the controller now manages the shared crossing point: a departure is held while an arrival is landing across its path and is only sent if it can get airborne in time, and the crossing is released as soon as the departing aircraft has passed rather than waiting for it to fully lift off.
- e[1mSmarter SID-less departure routinge[0m — when a departure has no SID and its first fix sits behind the airport, the aircraft no longer yanks through one very tight 90–180° turn off the runway. The turn is broken into sensible, terrain-checked doglegs (no single turn over ~70°) and never plans above your filed cruise.
e[1;34m
Arrivals & Descentse[0m
- e[1mDescent clearances no longer go missing around center handoffse[0m — if a step-down is due, center now clears you down before handing you off. Previously each handoff opened a window where no controller could issue altitude, and on some arrivals this chained across every step-down and left you high.
- e[1mSmarter vectored descentse[0m — non-STAR and vectored arrivals now descend better, this should mean no more being held high and diving for the field.
- Asking for descent a long way from top of descent now gets an information pass (expect runway, etc.) instead of a descent clearance hundreds of miles out. The first real step comes at the path’s TOD.
- “Descending via” check-ins are now truthful — the phrase is only used when you were actually cleared via the STAR with restrictions. Pilot’s-discretion descents check in and step correctly.
- Check-ins no longer say “descending to FLXXX” below the std transition level at airports with missing transition data.
- Fixed a runway change causing a STAR allocation failure that could lead to vectors a huge way out from the airport.
e[1;34m
Approach & Vectoringe[0m
- e[1mInfeasible approach clearances now do something instead of nothinge[0m — when you were too high to be cleared, ATC became silent, and on charted intercepts the descent logic could deadlock and leave you flying the last heading forever. ATC now speaks a descent to the intercept altitude while it waits.
- e[1mFlying through the localizer no longer earns total silencee[0m — once cleared for the approach, vectoring used to go mute, so if you blew through final nobody said anything. ATC now makes the real-world call: “…flown through the final approach course, turn left heading …, I’ll bring you back around”. A normal base-leg intercept does not trigger it.
- Passing the intercept fix no longer silently cancels your vectors. If you’re actually established you get a spoken “cleared direct” to the fix; if you’re not, vectoring stays alive.
- e[1mMountain strips: terrain safety no longer mutes vectoringe[0m — at mountainous fields you’re legitimately below the terrain buffer, and the old safety check could suppress every heading indefinitely. There’s now a fallback that always prefers some safe instruction over silence, plus a one-shot safety climb if terrain trouble persists on an IMC approach.
- Final intercept headings now follow more sensible intercept angles.
- Wrong-way vector prevention will revalidate and recalculate vectors if you are going the wrong way, plus general improvements to prevent ATC losing you during vectors.
- Fixed some wild approach altitudes, particularly on go-arounds in hilly terrain, and terrain-safety buffers for recovery vectors are now mountainous-aware.
e[1;34m
Speed Controle[0m
- e[1mOne speed authority on approache[0m — expect fewer and more consistent speed calls. An empty sky should produce none at all.
- Sequencer speeds are now altitude-aware, with floors of 250 kt above FL200 and 220 kt above 10,000 ft, so no more terminal speeds at cruise. Far-out enroute sequencing nudges rather than commanding approach speeds.
- Published STAR speed restrictions are issued again as required now we have the data from MSFS 2024 (not in MSFS 2020, which doesn’t have the data).
- Speed restrictions on final approach now apply to AI traffic again.
e[1;34m
Ground 2.0 — Gates, Taxi & Line-upse[0m
- e[1mOverhauled gate parking overlap detectione[0m — wingspan checks and gate exclusivity now stop aircraft parking overlapped at adjacent gates.
- e[1mLine-up splines now follow runway entry geometry exactlye[0m — removes the “bulge” swing during line-up and a rare fold-back reversal at Y-junction entries.
- e[1mHead-on taxi resolution improvede[0m — better commitment and priority handling so opposing aircraft resolve conflicts more sensibly (departures yield).
- Small aircraft now find parking at GA fields — GA-class aircraft can take a slightly snug spot when nothing better exists, fixing landed AI vanishing on the taxiway at fields like KPVU.
- Fixed long taxi detours around runways that cross at an angle — ground routing treated taxiing across an oblique runway as taxiing down its length, sending aircraft on long detours instead of simply crossing (seen at Heraklion LGIR). Aircraft now cross angled runways directly.
- Fixed aircraft waiting for pushback blocking traffic trying to taxi past.
e[1;34m
Turnaroundse[0m
- Turnaround data no longer carries over between legs — fixed leftover flight data carrying over, callsigns getting mixed between legs.
- A→B→A turnarounds now repopulate parked traffic and departures at the return destination.
- Fixed occasional duplicate aircraft spawning under the new callsign post turnaround (which showed up as a ~50 nm “warp” on the traffic map).
- Fixed fatal crashes on turnaround — importing a flight at a traffic airport, clicking “Download flight plan”, and starting a leg whose destination was already loaded as a traffic airport.
- Refreshed the “Download new flight plan” flow when starting a turnaround leg — it no longer hides menus.
e[1;34m
Voices & Commse[0m
- e[1mBetter local voicese[0m — the local model has been retrained on long-form speech. Long transmissions, ATIS and IFR clearances especially, are paced properly instead of rushed, with better fluidity on longer phrasing, and voices sound less same-y from one transmission to the next.
- e[1m40 new voices across all tierse[0m — Arabic, Africa, Germany, Italy, Irish and US Southern.
- e[1mCallsigns are spoken correctlye[0m — letters in callsigns are now always phonetic, so BAW6AC reads as “Speedbird six alpha charlie”, not “six a charlie”. Also fixes dropped letters, wrong number grouping for FAA (now “fifty-eight”, not “five eight”) and inconsistent “niner”.
- e[1mATC going permanently silent is fixede[0m — a failed or hung voice generation could silence a controller for the rest of the flight, and each retry blocked the engine.
- e[1mNew voice-spread systeme[0m distributes voices so adjacent controllers, and controller versus pilot, avoid sharing the same voice.
- ATC no longer talks to other traffic while your transmission is still being processed, and pending player requests get airtime priority.
- South African controllers now use their proper regional voice set (they had silently been getting random world voices), and many missing countries and territories were mapped to the correct accent regions.
- Fixed US airlines, and several missing airline mappings, not getting the correct dynamic co-pilot voice.
- Speech recognition: “uniform” and “oscar” now parse correctly.
e[1;34m
Pronunciatione[0m
- Latest airline and pronunciation data.
- Fixed SID pronunciation in local voices, plus more custom pronunciations to fix specific local voice issues.
- Fixed pronunciation data not converting on waypoints or NDBs unless they were marked as a VOR, and not converting VORs that are the final or designated missed waypoint.
- Fixed pronunciation lookup case sensitivity, better matching for multi-word entries, and a regex mismatch that stopped names like GEN. Mitchell or ST. PAUL being translated.
- Fixed “direct to” not accepting the spoken pronunciation of a waypoint — it used to expect the raw name.
e[1;34m
Weather & ATISe[0m
- e[1mLow-visibility weather no longer produces visual approachese[0m — fractional visibility was mis-parsed (5/8SM read as 58 miles), so dense fog could yield a visual approach and poison “field in sight” ranges. Full visibility handling now, including mixed fractions like “1 1/2SM”.
- e[1mWind parsing overhaulede[0m — 3-digit speeds and gusts, nonstandard forms seen in the wild (240/12KT), MPS and KMH units. Windshear groups are no longer mis-parsed as wind, and malformed wind reads as “variable” rather than “calm”.
- Thunderstorms in the destination METAR now force a procedure approach — no more visual approach into a storm.
- Indefinite ceilings (VV) and 9999-visibility METARs now count toward the approach decision — “9999 OVC001” no longer gives a visual under a 100 ft overcast.
- ATIS now speaks visibility correctly (“five eighths” instead of “five eight”, and whole miles are no longer dropped from mixed fractions).
- Runway selection now handles gusts deliberately: alignment scoring uses sustained wind, while flow and low-wind gates use gust-inclusive speed. Previously 3-digit gusts were ignored entirely.
e[1;34m
Traffic Mape[0m
- New aircraft icons — nearly all major aircraft models included (a few Boeings still to do 767, 747 in particular).
- The traffic map now tells you whether an aircraft is being live-tracked or not.
- Aircraft type now shown in the status pane.
- Tuned frequency now shown per aircraft in the status panel and detail panes (part of the new airspace work above).
- Improved the status pane data accuracy across the board.
- Fixed the odd zig-zag / fan display caused by overlapping live routes.
- Queued departures no longer show the “departing” wake — only the aircraft actually entering the runway does.
- Sequenced-speed display corrected, and the spacing readout now names the constraining leader (“Spacing – DAL123 – 210 kts”).
e[1;34m
Interfacee[0m
- Voice quality and co-pilot dropdowns no longer have empty space under the last option.
- The mid-flight phase list now fits all four choices.
- Mouse-wheel scrolling in options lists no longer jumps straight to the bottom.
- The fatal-error dialog now only appears for real exceptions, and no longer double-fires.
- Fixed a MOTD scroll off-by-one.
e[1;34m
Controller & Joystick Inpute[0m
- Improvements to try and stop phantom binding again — resolves Turtle Beach and VKB devices immediately bound a weird control.
- Dual identical devices now restore bindings correctly.
- Keybinding: the 7 key was mapped to the wrong keycode.
e[1;34m
Other Fixese[0m
- Fixed a fatal mid-cruise crash on flights with no SID/STAR.
- Fixed a fatal crash during live traffic at busy airports when there were parking clashes.
- Fixed a case where one bad airport could silently stop every later airport from loading for the rest of the session.
- China (metric): fixed altitude-change readbacks using the wrong unit, where picking a metric altitude would read back a much smaller number.
- CPDLC sectors now carry their own logon code, fixing the displayed facility not matching the frequency you were told to log on to.
- CPDLC clearances now show the raw waypoint name in the info box rather than the spoken pronunciation.
- Waypoints sitting near the equator or prime meridian, or with 1-degree coordinates, are no longer dropped from flight plans.
- Fixed a trim check that stopped some top altitudes being returned (for example KSNA).
- Minor altitude rounding fix in navdata decoding — a charted 8,000 is no longer stored as 7,999.
