Anyone bought the Big Radials Jetstar which is an Alpha release?
Is it flyable and worth £20 on its current state of release?
Seen a couple of YT videos but these are a few months old and a few updates have since been released

Now it is released in the marketplace, guessing it’s official? There wasn’t any other active thread on the aircraft here.

I’m not so sure it’s ready for prime time yet. I got the 1.0.0.7 update a few days ago and I couldn’t get it off the runway. After starting the engines from cold and dark I taxied to the runway, lined up and advanced the throttles. After I had started picking up speed all the engines reduced power dramatically then power came back then reduced again, this went on several times before I ran out of runway and crashed. This had never happened with any of the previous 0.9.x.x versions that I tried. I was flying it in MSFS2020, as I have all the versions. I fly in VR

Do you have assists from the sim turned on? There is one in particular that will do this.

No, all assists are turned off and have been for a long long time. As I mentioned, this has not happened with any of the previous early release versions and I’ve made no changes. The last time I saw anything like this happen was with the AH DC-3 when it was first released.

Note, my e-mail this morning did have a message from Big Radials with another update to the plane. I will try that today and report back.

Ok, so things worked much better with today’s version (1.0.2.7). Got it started up, taxied out, took off, made a loop around the airport and landed. There are still VR issues - the right mouse button does not zoom in and a lot of the print for various switches is very small and almost impossible to read without being able to zoom in. No documentation, no way to close the cabin door without doing contortions in VR (there may be a View for that in 2D). Still needs quite a bit of work IMO.

BR did put a link to their Discord server along with the update link but I got an invalid error. Maybe expired, though I tried it only 3 hours after getting the email.

Would love some more impressions. Big fan of old jets so some positive feedback would be great.

Not gonna lie, it looks rough from what I can see. I’m really surprised at Big Radials considering their Goose was great.

I’ve been flying it and its very good.Updates are on-going.There is a manual on their website and a guide to the INS on their discord channel.

I looked for the manual on the Documents page of their website and didn’t see it. Now I see it’s on the JetStar page. Thanks for making me search a little harder.

I haven’t had any luck getting on their Discord with the link they sent me.
