I was about to delete X-Plane the other day. Glad I didnāt now. I get that infrastructure goes down but an 8+ hour outage is unacceptable. Some of us with lives and families only have specific times theyāre able to use this sim, and these outages ruin that. Thank you for reminding me that a legit offline option should always be kept around.
I think the issue lies somewhere between Bing Maps and Flight Simulator, because Bing Maps satellite imagery itself seems to be working fine. But for some reason Flight Simulator canāt access it.

The whole year there are server issues and never been fixed completly. It just looks now that everything has collapsed.

I have to reply againā¦I bought an XSS three months ago. ALL the bells and whistles. MSFS has had NOTHING but problems. It crashes constantly. Iāll prepare for long flights, taxi out and BOOM! Black screen crash. Or Iāll be on takeoff on a runway like KATL and hit a massive crack in the runway and crash the plane (I use total realism so itās all over after over and hour of cold and dark setup and FMC planning). This is incredibly frustrating and really almost not worth it. I flew with X-plane on a Mac for years and it never had any issues like this. Also Iāve noticed that Xbox users are treated like second class citizens in the MSFS world. Everything in support is geared towards the PC user. If MS and Asobo canāt make a stable product across all platformsā¦ they should get out of the market and stop taking more money. Sorry for the rant everyone, Iām just beyond frustrated with this sub-standard product.

Itās a game. Not a mission critical piece of software. People who have to fix it also have personal lives and need sleep.
You donāt have a SLA, so 8 hours is perfectly acceptable. Fun? No, not at all. But since itās a 3rd party dependency thereās not much we/they can do.

Some people need to read the thread and not reinstall the game! If you do not have the offline world installed your data online setting will be grayed out because you donāt have any option to go offline.
The maps are down and you will get that can not fly message. There is nothing wrong with your installation.
If you want to fly install offline content but it will be a blurry mess other than where scenery is hand modeled.

If it would happen once or twice maybe but like I said earlier, itās the whole year a server disaster without any back up. Funny thing is, it usally happends more often in the weeks before a new update comes. I think Asobo is shutting it down themself to implement what ever they have to.

Yes. I start the Sim and the world map isnāt loading. It only shows default generic satellite imagery replacement.

I wonder if this could be the culmination of the bugginess and CTD-proneness of the sim after SU13?? Those crashes seemed to revolve around Bing Data World Graphics and Photogrammetry, causing myself and many others to throttle our network speeds to try to not have issues with the data streaming and/or processing.
Our constant CTDs unless strange workarounds were done might simply have been the canary in the coalmine.
As Iāve been saying since my issues started after SU13, Iām very skeptical for the plans for MSFS2024 and an even thinner client.
And yet even more scenery will be streamed from data servers with MS2024. They better get some redundancy in the data streaming space before then.
