Currently in my hangar, the fastest thing I have with a visible copilot is the stock TBM 930, and I had to modify one of the files in the Model folder just to get that. I’m looking for something that goes high and fast, does not have an FMC (I despise those things!), and has a copilot that’s visible from inside the cockpit in the 2020 sim.
And before anyone says it, I have too much time and money invested in 2020 to dump it.
I’d suggest two masterpieces: the Flysimware Learjet 35 and the Contrail Falcon 50. Honestly, I can’t recall if the Learjet has a visible co-pilot, though I’m certain the Falcon 50 does. The Falcon 50 does include a rudimentary FMS, but you can easily fly it without using it.
Yes, the Falcon 50 has an FMS, but it’s an early-generation model, and you can fly it with the system turned off. You can select VOR frequencies directly from the radios on the center console, and you set takeoff speeds using the bugs on the airspeed indicator anyway. I’m speaking from firsthand experience: I flew the Falcon 50 extensively in real life, and the early models didn’t even have an FMS. Check out the manual: Direct To - Contrail Docs
I’m pretty sure the Learjet 35 has the option to show the FO and does not have an FMS. Other than that, you’re going to be pretty hard pressed to find a business jet that doesn’t have an FMS of some sort in it.
The XTreme Prototypes LR24 doesn’t have an FMS but I’m not sure if the FO is visible or not, nor can I really recommendit in its current state (still waiting on even just the first update and fixes and it was released a year ago) so unless you’re desperate, I’d steer clear.
The FFX Citation X is a great plane but it does have an FMS, however, you can very easily fly raw data with it. You can also elect not to install the autothrottle system (EFB option as to whether the equipment is even installed or not). It’s a nice hand flyer doesn’t lack for speed.
The CJ3+ and stock Longitude both have Garmin screens. The Phenom releases show Garmin in their screenshots, but I can’t find many positive reviews on them.
I interpreted ‘does not have and FMC’ as including Garmin avionics as well.
If Garmins are not out of the question, I can recommend the HondaJet as being pretty decent as well as the default Longitude after if got a rework. The FSR Phenom isn’t 2020 compatible, nor is the C680 Sovereign+ that I’m aware of.
It’s just the Collins stuff I hate. I suppose I could probably learn how they work, but I have no desire to. I vastly prefer the moving maps and synthetic vision in everything from the G1000 and up, or even the GNS systems installed in steam panels. And I have the Honda working with a visible copilot thanks to a mod from the .to site.
If you go back far enough, their Velocity XL doesn’t - but I get your point. I already have just about all of their 2020 offerings that I’ve been interested in. The only one I’m still considering is the TBM850. It’s old enough to be pre-EFB as their releases go, but it’s still nice as a full package and not just a steam conversion. If they’d update it to include their latest EFB tech, I’d definitely jump on it.
Sounds like the Skyward Simulations Sovereign+ might be what you’re after then but it’s still not out for 2020 just yet - check that thread here for the latest on that. I don’t own that one but it seems to be well liked.
That’s totally valid! That’s the joy of flight simulation - fly what you want, when you want for what ever reason you want!
