Black avionics screens after update

I have my avionics turning off randomly during flight. Turning the switch off/on again brings it back though.

I’ve had this too, so far in the A320, TBM and Extra 300. In the TBM just now, the center MFD went off, the left and right MFDs went to a splitscreen page and when this all happened, there was a multiple clicking sound, as if all the switches/knobs used to control the MFDs were being used in that split second.

I have the exact same issue. Last time I was just idling on the runway in the Bonanza before even taking off and I saw switches getting flicked and knobs getting turned without any user input, before one of the displays going completely dark. I can get the display back on by undimming it and/or switching avionics back on, but it’s pretty annoying to have to constantly do that every time the game decides to randomly change things. Feeling really discouraged from even launching it today, because what’s the point until that’s fixed?

Same situation black screens in MFD in mid flight and the A320 shutdown completely

Echoing my thoughts exactly, I dunno if I can be bothered to fire up the sim myself until it’s fixed..I really hope the team release some hotfixes soon and not make us wait for a week or longer for a main patch.

Yep I’ve done this method myself @realoptimal909 it becomes a bit of a pain during a night landing when all of a sudden the mfd shuts down and the lights dim all by themselves on descent :joy: hopefully a hotfix will come available soon.

I don’t know if this helps the developers understand better what’s happening, but here’s a video of the bug in action. I was using TrackIR to look around, had my hands off my mouse, and was just using CTRL + page up/down to adjust autopilot altitude when the display brightnesses changed on their own. You can hear the brightness knob turning when it happens.

Not altitude related. Same thing happened to me many times in a 600 mile flight. It happened to me around 5000 feet.

Have tried several aircraft both GA and airliners. None have any display at all (all just black). No mods.

Had this happen in the 172, Virus, and DA.. No aircraft mods installed.

It’s varies what happens.. Sometimes the panels just black out but are still working, other times you here the AP ding as the avionics are disabled. Only way to fix it most of the time is flicking the avionics master off and on.. Highly annoying bug when it’s rearing its ugly head

Yep, zero issues with TBM, flying for hours post patch with no issues and patched improvements working well

I just had this happen on the new Carenado M20.
All avionics turn black. Unable to get them back on, engine instruments are fine.
When first installed the avionics were of and impossible to turn on. After PC restart everything was working fine for about 20 minutes, then in the middle on a STAR approach to KPSM all avionics turned off, there was a click as it happened. I was unable to get them back on after landing visually. Vacuum gauges and engine monitors work fine.
This does keep you on your toes. Like real flying. I have lost all avionics in a C177 in IMC once when I got hit by lightning. I lived though that one as well.
I hope a fix is upcoming.
It is only after the new update that this has happened to me and only in the M20, The 182T has been fine for a few hrs of flying after the September 17 update.

So I wasn’t experiencing this issue. I decided to rollback my driver because I was getting some ghosting when I looked around. Low and behold, I started experiencing the issue after I rolled back my drivers to 452.06. I did a clean install of Nvidia driver 456.38 and the issue is resolved. no more black screen. May or may not work for you

I have this but only in the King Air, the displays simply won’t come on at all in cold and dark. TBM and such work fine. Really odd. I can still start the engines and the battery definitely comes on but screens stay off and the avionics do not work (radio doesn’t come on either)

Been having this issue in multiple aircraft. Thought it was electrical failures at first, but it happens every single flight in the following aircraft:

Cessna 172 G1000
Beechcraft Baron G58
Cessna Grand Caravan.

Furthermore, I can hear switches and knobs being toggled and slewed mid-flight (by themselves). Its like flying with a ghost! I can reasonably assume that those are causing the issue. On the last flight, my fuel selectors turned themselves to the OFF position. Scary stuff!

This issue has only arisen after the latest update (Sep 2020).

Just to update, on a flight in the TBM right now and it’s happened again twice within 20 minutes of starting the flight. It’s like the sim has a mind of its own.

Really hope it’s a simple fix and a hotfix comes out for this soon. That or someone can mod a fix for it.

Edit: Also, to further the point of how much of an impact this is to the gameplay, when the screens go black, the autopilot disengages too. Started veering off the right and plummeting to the ground before I managed to save it.

Edit 2: And they’ve just gone for a third time, less than a minute of switching them back on from the last instance of this occurring. I am never one to say that a game is unplayable when there is an issue, but this is the first time where I’ll say it - right now, this is unplayable.

Also, just to be clear, I have zero mods installed.

Get it voted and send reports into Zendesk guys and gals, hopefully it’ll get noticed quicker

Same thing happened to me in 152. Radio stack not lit but radios all work. I started sim on the runway at JFK and no radio lights. Took off and flew for about 15 minutes out of the city and they all came back on. Didn’t go off again. It happens whever I start up in JFK but it doesn’t happen everywhere.
