After updating to Sim Update 3, I started noticing black or dark grid-like lines across water surfaces. The lines often appear to run east-west (90/270) and sometimes extend through cloud layers when flying above overcast conditions. They become more noticeable at lower altitudes or when looking toward the horizon.
Steps to Reproduce
Load any flight over a large water body (e.g., ocean or lake).
Set Clear Skies or any weather preset with visible water.
Observe from external view while panning the camera.
Lines appear faint at first and become more pronounced as you look toward the horizon.
Additional Notes
The issue persists regardless of location (tested near coastlines, open ocean, and lakes).
Ray-Traced Shadows ON/OFF does not resolve the issue.
Lines remain visible even with terrain LOD and object LOD at max.
This was not observed before SU3 on the same system.
This is a major graphical regression, could it be possible this post was logged as a graphical bug? I can’t vote on the issue, but i noticed the exact same after SU3. Never had these lines, now they are everywhere over bodies of water. Very frustrating that nothing has been done about it.
This post: Black lines in the water - #4 by Ju1ius2416 - makes it difficult for the devs, because there was something similar reported in 2021 with msfs 2020. The issue in 2024 is not quite the same it seems, and it shows up consistently in large bodies of water, especially at higher altitudes. My point is that this deserves a separate post for 2024, especially since it regressed in a beta, where no one seemed to report it.
I see grid lines on the base scenery every time I fly over water, but also sometimes when flying above the cloud layers. This was especially bad over northern Canada and North Atlantic.
