I had the same.
The -fastlaunch starts the sim. Sadly the other tips doesnt work. But a normal start gives still the black screen… Somehow it has to do with playing the start videos (xbox and AI).
I complete remove “shark video codecs” with revo uninstall and voila the sim starts normal.
Maybe the k-lite codec has the same problem.
I keep wondering why we have to take shortcuts and this is not solved. Why do I have to turn on Spatial sound every time I run fs2020 or skip intro?
I started getting the black screen again (with the blue loading bar at the bottom). After a minor freakout, I discovered that on my install, it eventually goes away after 2-3 minutes and the loading continue without issue. Check if waiting for a few minutes works for you.
No, waiting for a bit longer doesnt work for me (i once waited voor about 20 minutes…). After i had uninstall the shark Lav vidoe codec’s the sim works as normal…I reinstalled now the k-lite code pack (i need lav filters) and the sim does normal startup…

I am now getting this last update for MSFS was Nov 30th. I tried every thing I could find in the forums. So I un-installed and redownloaded and installed under Xbox Gamepass, it’s still stuck at black screen. It trys to start showing the loading circle arrow at bottom right corner and then stays black screen. When opening up task manager it says cpu usage at 25% and memory at 50% but it does nothing. I have tried to allow it to sit overnight and it won’t load anything. Tried the fast launch and it’s a no go. Every time I want to play ans fly it’s another issue that I wind up spending all My time trying to fix. I am using Windows 10 latest update, GeForce rtx2060 Intel i5 10300h 16gb ram 2tb ssd Samsung 980nvme.
Having the same issue with a similar build and setup. I have a ryzen CPU though. Fast launch doesn’t work. I’ve tried everything on all the main troubleshooting checklists and I have never had the program stay open longer than about 3 seconds. I’ve got a support ticket in but it’s been silence for several days. I think this round of troubleshooting puts me beyond my in-flight game hours again. So disappointing.
This is still an issue. It started about a week ago for me. I’ve tried the -fastlaunch flag and have spent hours doing everything on all the other published checklists and the game crashes on the black screen with the spinning wheel in about 3-4 seconds no matter what. I have a support ticket that I submitted days ago but haven’t received any feedback since.

Hello everyone. After a W10 update, i get the black screen issue when lauching MSFS. I went trough the suggested ZENDESK support and i´ve try to fix the issue using the “skip the intro”, wich make things working.
But if i don´t use the trick to skip the intro every time, i still have the black screen issue.
I have reinstalled completely the game, but still.
Any idea ?
you mean “-FastLaunch” ( my Default setting because the intro is borring and remembers me I play a xbox game 
)…
Can you check whether you can play the videos outside of msfs ? Should be located in a folder like : MicrosoftFlightSimulator\Packages\fs-base-videos\Videos

In this folder i´ve delete all the CFG, BIN, XML etc. files. I have relaunch the game and everything works fine
