Black Square Analog Beechcraft Bonanza A36 / G36

Well, it always catches on the 2nd attempt for me, so if it doesn’t work first time it’s not too much hassle.

I did try every position when I first bought the plane and the position I mentioned was the lowest setting that worked for me.

Thanks CCM ..

Yes, and what an obsolete antique !!
They are practically giving them away on Ebay

Does Garmin even allow (Certify) this to be connected to their G530 and later Garmins ?

Still trying to figure out what it was ever included in the Asobo C172SP Steam Gauge - I do not recall ever seeing one installed as such in RL

We installed a million of them attached to 530/430 units back in the 90s. It was a part of the requirement for IFR GPS certification in Canada back then - you had to have annunciation and switching within a certain field of view of the pilot

Cheap enough to buy these days. This one is out of 206. No idea if it was standard from new though.

Thanks – Good to know – I must have got Bad Info from somewhere on the Internet
– who would have thought “Bad Info on the Internet” !!

I have an issue starting the engine on this beatiful bird. I am following the checklist but I only managed to start the engine one time just after installation of the addon. What am I missing ? Is there a way to automatically start the engine on this bird ? Thanks for the help

Ctrl E for auto start.
Just lucky I guess but I’m not having issues with starts. Following the checklist.

I’m flying this with total disregard to proper checklists and technique. Seeing how long she keeps flying before she’s unflyable. Wonder how many failures I can rack up…

I was having trouble getting it started when following the checklist but I think I was giving it too much throttle when turning over. Last few tries worked first time when just cracking the throttle to 1/2"

FFH with the comprehensive ( read, long! ) review as is SOP -

If your still having problems starting take a look at this video.

The sound when the engine starts! So rich and deep. It really does rip down the runway on that takeoff run!! Guess I’ll have to try another cold+dark, I’ve been giving up and doing CTRL+E on the Bonanza, have not yet successfully started it. I love that he’s talking about how much you can upgrade them with modern equipment, but we sim-folk crave the analog steam gauge experience. Go figure!!

Well, I looked at the videos posted and followed advice here, and now I can get it started first time every time. I needed a lower throttle setting than I was using, perhaps there was something else up with my start-ups initially which I attributed to needing more throttle opening? Anyway, it works and the error was mine.

Maybe this does not apply in Canada ??

There’s a lot more MD41’s than just the -224,-228, and -228(5V).

I’m curious whether they have actually simulated the wrong MD41 model.

When used in conjunction with GNS430/530s, it seems the GPS/APR switch doesn’t really have a function, as the GNS unit controls the activation of approach mode.

Every GNS 430/530 & MD41 equipped aircraft I’ve flown has used one of the 14xx series, as shown below.

This allows remote OBS mode selection in place of the approach mode switch.

The MD41-224/8 series as installed in the Black Square aircraft do seem to be used with the KLN-89 gps.

All the MD41 variants and their compatible GPS units can be seen here.

At least you can see that i tried to render this instrument as close as possible to the real one  but you are right. this switch should be for KLN-89 only.A Vivisun switch would have been possible but with only two indications V/LOC / GPS and no MSG/APR. Perhaps in a future update…you should see with developper  Actually completing some refinements of all textures overhaul but it should be available soon.(had the authorization from the developper to share my mods)…some should be even available in the original and future products.

Absolutely mate, it wasn’t a criticism at all, just taking the discussion to a conclusion. What we currently have takes nothing away from the simulation, so don’t stress these tiny details.

All the Black Square aircraft are by far my favourite for MSFS. I can’t thank the team enough. :folded_hands:
