Wow, those look awesome!

I have enjoyed the Analog Baron and Bonanza in 2020 and still fly them in 2020 once a month or so. At this time I am no longer purchasing new models for 2020, which extends to 2020 based models that have been made reverse compatible for 24. While these will be offered for both sims, wondering if the 2024 versions are truly/fully 2024 native models, due to the huge differences in SDK between the two. While it is nice to get a 2020 model with purchase of a model in 24, if the 24 model is not a native 24 model that is fully SDK compliant, that is just not what I am interested in buying anymore.

Thoughts?

I can get behind that thinking, completely. It would seem a bit odd to develop a new product that wasn’t 2024 with a back port to 2020.

The copy on JF’s website doesn’t seem to indicate what the deal is in this regard.

It does state this, however:

Analog Bonanza Owners: While the panel of the Bonanza Professional might look familiar, almost all other aspects of the aircraft have been rebuilt with Black Square’s current technology and high standards of quality. The major additions include a custom exterior model , custom sound package from Boris Audio Works, higher quality materials with modifications for each model of aircraft, fine-tuned performance tables, tablet visualisers with all the systems required to drive them, more avionics options , and the reciprocating engine simulation that debuted with the Piston Duke . This expansion of the Analog Bonanza represents 1,000+ hours of dedication, and roughly a doubling of the aircraft’s code complexity. Once you experience Black Square’s latest technology in your favorite A36, the difference will be clear!

So, obviously, there has been a big upgrade, but 100% 2024? Dunno.

Yeah, I read that too before posting. The way I read that is that their proprietary code is rebuilt and that is certainly of value, as are the other features listed. And it is also true that some 2020 based models fly very nicely in 24 as reverse compatible models. Those I will continue to enjoy but they are already purchased. What I am willing to pay for is a fully 24 SDK compliant model and I am willing to pay for it again either at an upgrade price or full price, even if I have that model in 2020, in order to get all that 24 brings to the sim. For example, the A2A Aerostar and how PMDG is planning to roll out the new for 24 737NGs. Times are changing and there are so many worthy models to fly.

So ready to have the Bonanza again! One of the planes I miss the most from 2020.

24 SDK or no, the Dukes and Starship are right at the top of the list of best aircraft in 24. I have no doubt the new and improved versions of the Banana and Baron will be as well. Black Square stuff is an insta-buy for me. While I’ve been able to run the older steam conversions through some additional steps, somehow they just feel more hollow compared to the Dukes. It’s funny how some time plus Nick getting exponentially better with each release goes. Plus Boris sounds? Yes please. Boris needs to be making sounds for every aircraft ever

The Starship is a native FS2024 aircraft and I believe the whole point of doing these Professional versions with their own models was to bring these aircraft to FS2024, which wasn’t possible with cockpit mods anymore. I would be very surprised if they weren’t native FS2024 products.

I’m going for the bundle on day one either way.

I would suspect they’d be 2024 native. I know for the starship and duke Nick released updates that added all the new LODs and walk around interactions, so I think that means they’re 2024 native? So for these new releases I’d expect the same. I’m not super well versed in all of it so maybe I’m 100% wrong there, if so sorry.

I’ve never been into GA much but after buying the Starship and Dukes it’s basically all I’ve done. So these will probably be day one purchases for me. I really enjoy Nick’s attention to detail, passion for the aircraft, and his community interactions on the JF forums. I expect no less for these new builds.

The Starship is not 24 native as it uses the older file system and not the newer modular layout. It means very little to me in terms of purchasing vs not but just to clarify…

There seems to be two ways (more if you continue to include the 2020 SDK…) with 2024:

  1. Fully built from the ground up for 2024
  2. Compiled using the 2024 SDK.

The JF Arrows, for example, fall into that latter category. I think the Starship may, as well.

I wonder if they will be available on the Marketplace and whether they implement CFD simulation (not just propeller CFD). To be honest, I now have doubts about any aircraft that don’t use CFD in MSFS, because while a good non-CFD model can achieve accurate performance (matching book speeds, climb rates, and so on), a good CFD model can achieve accurate physics.

Product description calls out preflight walkaround mode for 2024 so I believe that answers that.

Is it just me or does the nose of the Baron look a little off? Too narrow or something. Either way, I’m really excited for these as I still fly the OG analog Baron to this day but I really miss the extra fidelity that I get with the Duke. I’ve been longing for a twin with that kind of depth and immersion (like the physics based engine starts) that’s just a little less serious than the Duke. Don’t get me wrong, the Duke is still my most flown airplane and I love it. Now with the Baron Professional and A2A releasing the Aerostar for 2020, I’ll have two to choose from! …until the Turbo Commander comes out. Good luck prying me out of that thing once I get my hands on it.

I just hope the table folds out this time, was a real step back in the Starship.

And this is pretty much the only thing I’m concerned about with this release :slight_smile:

It’s the little things, right? My concern is the flight model. It seems to me that all the Justflight and Blacksquare modules use the same flight model, and it has one annoying quirk; it won’t fly level. It’s either climbing or descending, but the needle will not stay level. This is without autopilot of course. I have a large collection of their content, but the only ones I like are the analog upgrades since they use the original flight models.

And the new flight model in 24 is what I care most about; I could care less about the walk around functionality in 24. Will be interesting to see what new offerings bring to 24. Cheers!

Here is a comparison with the schematic in the maintenance manual. (Ignore the propeller disks, as the manual depicts a 2-bladed prop with a larger diameter) It’s also worth noting that, given the nature of the Steam Gauge Overhaul aircraft originally, the Professional Series has nearly identical dimensions to the default Baron and Bonanza, which were created from CAD (or similar) models from the manufacturers.

I hope that my response isn’t misconstrued as being defensive. I am absolutely not immune from mistakes/oversights in my aircraft. They often make it difficult for me to sleep at night until they are corrected. I just happened to see this post, and I thought I could provide a quick comparison.

Definitely incorrect thinking there, believing our products and Black Square products use the same flight model. Certainly not the case. Here’s some feedback on that, direct from Black Square too.

The Analog Series does not use the default flight model, nor do Black Square and Just Flight aircraft share flight models. Everyone has a different taste for the feel of a virtual aircraft, but I personally think that the Baron and Bonanza Professional are some of my best feeling flight models yet. Due to MSFS 2024’s overreactive control sensitivities, I’ve been experimenting with heavier feeling control responses. My beta testers have been quite happy with the change, so perhaps it will be to your liking too. Either way, I am always receptive to feedback on the feel of the aircraft, and try to reach a solution that makes everyone happy.
