Black Square Steam Gauge Overhaul - Cessna 208B Caravan

did it work in the end?

Climb rate is twice as high as stated in the POH for the give weight - so I second your opinion on that.

Yes, I am pretty sure that I am hearing the modded sounds. Props sound better than the default.

Awesome, ill try that.

So that seems to be happening with most of us. I noticed that but i was thinking i was the problem.
Anyone reported this? They have a discord?

I will be buying this for sure, but not until Asobo fixes the turboprop flaws currently in the sim. That’s an “immersion killer” for me.

Yes, I have it and noticed it was overpowered on my first flights with it. Extremely short takeoff roll😳

This may already on their issues list. I’ll check for support channels to find out what kind of process in place for reporting bugs/problems.

I compared some takeoff roll distances with the POH. The Distances seem to match. With 7000 lbs you have around 900 ft distance groundroll according to POH. The Caravan doesn´t need much runway in real live. The acceleration could be a little bit to fast tough. I will make more test.

Here is a small Livery Mod for the Analog Caravan which enables the standard Asobo liveries also on the Analog Caravan.

I am in the midst of making exactly this. I expect to release a first iteration in a few hours.

@JayDee6281 Would be up to make a checklist for it? The one from the manual is terrible made and confusing, i think this one deserves it!

ps: love your checklists, only use them.

MODERATOR EDIT:
I’m also looking for a helpful checklist. Excellent idea my friend

Estou também à procura de uma lista de verificação útil. Excelente ideia meu amigo  :grinning: :+1:

Thank you for doing some testing.

I just realized, I’m not sure what my takeoff weight was. Kinda embarrassed to say, but I bet it was extremely light.

I’ll check a few things when I get back to my PC this evening.

I also tested a lot now during tweaking the flight model for the non pod version. The Aircraft is overpowered atm (appr. 20%) I will do a flight model patch for the pod version too.

I proper checklist will be made. First No Pod Mod, then Flight Model Mod, then the Checklist.

Here is a first take on making the No Pod Mod made by Parorng available for the ANALOG Caravan. For now my Mod contains no textures and models itself, just the respective links via config files, so you need to have the original No Pod Mod by Parorng installed - Link https://flightsim.to/file/15086/cessna-208-b-grand-caravan-ex-no-pod

If someday I get a permission to include his model, then I will do so, but for now, this is how it is.

I tweaked the flight model to better match the poh. Please be aware, that the ANALOG CARAVAN by Black Square models the 675 HP version of the Grand Caravan. So use the proper POH for comparison.

  • decreased Propeller Thrust by appr. 25%

  • adjusted Drag & Fuel Flow

This is only a first iteration of flight model tweaks, so if you find Cruising Speeds/Fuel Flow or Takeoff Distances during your play, that differ more then 5% from the POH values don´t hesitate to notify me (best per PM or Discord), so that I have more data. Please use weights and altitudes that can be compared to the poh (e.g. 8750 lbs & 10k ft and so).

At the time of this post, the mod is still pending, but I wanna go to bed^^. So try later again, if the link is still not working.

Kind Regards
JayDee

I thought Black Square said they did very little to the flight model. So I am really interested in how different it is from the default.

Hey @JayDee6281 awesome news! Thanks for that! You made my dream come true  I already had the possibility to Co-Pilot and fly a little with an analog caravan (without pod  ) at our local parachuter club.
So thats my plane to go around the world as soon as sim update 10 launches
The link on flightsim.to isn’t active at the moment, it says it will take some time to release it.

PS: I’m already a subscriber of you on youtube!

Thanks again and cheers,
Tom

Maybe instead of your own tweaking and testing, you could start from the config provided by Cessna 208B Improvement Mod?

Are you sure? I did th same, but it dosen’t work
