Black Square Steam Gauge Overhaul - King Air 350i

A couple more things worth checking is that you’re on the latest TDS version, and that you’ve selected TDS as the NAV source in their executable.

I find the autopilot tracking of ILS GS to be very off. A full dot above or below most times.

I’ve been using the PMS50 and it’s been tracking the GS pretty good until about 300’ AGL, that’s when it just seems to give up.

When flying a vector to intercept an ILS I use AP HDG mode. Then I would like to arm APPR mode to capture the localizer automatically. But when I press the APPR button, it immediately tries to capture the localizer which does not work well.

How do I actually arm APPR mode and not have it engaged immediately?

Many thanks.

If the Localizer and Glide slope signals are present. pressing appr will try to capture it… that’s what it does. So I guess, wait until you’re established on the approach and stabilized before pressing APPR. That’s what I do. I don’t press APPR until I’m on the actual Approach, under the GS beam and see the GS needle start moving down.

EDIT to Add: Pressing “APPR” on the AP does “arm it” actually because when you flying level at the final approach fix, you are flying below the GS and the AP will not climb the plane to reach the needle. it will wait until the GS is centered and the engage, causing the plane to start it’s decent.

Not sure if I understand. I usually “enter” an ILS approach from HDG or RNAV, from below the glide slope. As I hit APPR, LOC is captured, but GS is armed. Aircraft doesn’t start to descend until it captures the glide slope.

Got it, that’s what confused me a little.

That’s what I meant. I added to my post while you posted

Yeah, thanks - I know how intercepting a localizer works.

Without the binding, the switch on the instrument panel doesn’t do anything.
This is what made me think the software had a bug as the GTN750 stays blank.

Hmm, That’s strange. It shouldn’t do that.
Maybe you still have another binding on another switch somewhere that is causing the avionics to remain off.
You could easily make another temp controller profile with no assignments to test this.

I started with a raw profile and deleted everything as most of the switches didn’t want to connect except the external lights.
Even with the Master Avionics bound it still doesn’t move the switch on the panel, but if you don’t have it turned on then no GTN750 display.

I think I might be confused of the issue. So let me say it this way, The switch on the instrument panel will not move from a controller binding (through MSFS at least) The switch has to be turned on with the mouse. So what I do is forget trying to bind it to a controller and just turn it on with the mouse only, instead of doing both.

The way you are doing it does not work for me.
I had to bind the physical switch to make it work.
Also if I only use one of the switches it will not work.
I believe this is the same issue the person that posted is having
It was NiKo Tin3420 that told me how to fix it.

Hello!

Can anyone confirm that at this stage we don’t have the option to “hold” with the PMS50 including the WTT package? Does anyone know if this will be a feature to be implemented in the future?

Thanks!

No holds with any 530 right now. It doesn’t use WTT, but Working Title will release a new 530 that will have all functionality by the end of the year. More info on their Discord.

Only way to get holds in King Air at this moment is to use PMS750 Premium + WTT package.

Does anybody know why the props change sound after touchdown?

So your saying you can activate holding on the PMS50 GTN750 Prem with WTT?
I have never used this feature.

I’m not sure about the PMS50, but you can with the TDS GTNXi.

I have. Also visual approaches, missed approaches, airways all work. I don’t own TDS750 so I forgot about that, I don’t know if it also supports any of that stuff, but I would imagine it does.
