Black Square Steam Gauge Overhaul - King Air 350i

Is this in low idle or high idle?

You should only use low idle on the ground. High idle is only used for really short landings and takeoffs.

it has been reported multiple time, answered : it s WTT limitation

Heading sync

Couldn’t find anything about the AP heading knob not doing a heading sync by clicking on the knob. Is that a bug or am I missing something?

Roland

Low idle. But just found that setting rpm at ± 1000, it’s ok

Power levers should be in beta when you release the brakes so you won’t jump forward. Props full forward and condition on low idle. You should govern the taxi speed only with adjusting power in around beta range. At least that’s how king airs are operated in real life. I have not purchased this plane yet as I’m wondering how accurate the power quadrant is simulated. Any feedback appreciated.

I have the PMS GTN 750 + WTT pack installed, is it possible to use the old nav2 as nav source for the AP in this mode ? Is there a nav1/nav2 switch somewhere and I’m just blind ?

Nobody who can help me?
Can you guys click on one of the two heading knobs to sync the heading bug with the current heading?
Thanks

the fact I m not sure to understand your question, the heading bug is a rotary knob, just turn it, ap should be on heading mode

, about headintg sync, maybe you refer to the gyroscopic deviation that not affect on this plane since it s always resync you can turn it off by using the dg mode key on left side below the gyro slaving + / - instrument

No, it is a simple rotary no push function on this instrument, you have to turn it manually.

Maybe there is a way to map a joystick button to “AP heading sync” in your controller options.

Thanks CapatinBalu, just wanted to have that confirmed.
Will do as SkySteve suggests and try to map a joystick button.
Thank you

The key to use is TOGGLE AUTOPILOT HEADING HOLD.
Have now assigned that command to a button on the Bravo and it works as it should. Thanks.

Is there a way to use the GND COM POWER (above altitude set) ? Turning it on doesn’t provide power to my radios

With ext power on, and, avionics master pwr on, my radios light up. The button you refer to is ground intercom. I don’t have anyone out there to talk to, so I can’t tell if it is working or not.

Hello, recently I was flying this aircraft and kept having an issue where I would get a BATTERY CHARGE warning while taxiing. Eventually this would go away but then I would get BATT TIE OPEN.

I dug into the manual and from what I can understand, the issue is that I’m applying too much power to the battery during taxi. The manual says “care should be taken while taxiing to avoid overcharging the battery.” but doesn’t explain how to take care in this area (at least that I can find). I taxi in low idle, props full forward, and with minimal thrust. Is there something else I should be doing/not doing?

I went through the start-up using the checklists line by line and I’m pretty sure everything else is by the book, I have no other unexpected warnings illuminated. As I understand it, BATT TIE OPEN basically means the battery has been disconnected from the electrical system because I’ve overcharged it.

Side note, the manual gear extension works…I found this out upon arrival because the landing gear need a functional battery to extend otherwise!

Thanks for any help

Should the anti-ice systems be on before takeoff, or just if required? I’ve seen mixed opinions on whether stall warning heat, fuel vane heat, and that stuff should always be on or only if going into visible moisture in icing conditions?

Hi,
First of all, BATTERY CHARGE amber annunciator only applies to aircraft with a NiCad battery type. According to BS custom manual, this version comes with a Lead Acid type so message should not show up ever (even annunciator slot should be empty).
Now, assuming that the message is operative, in real on the ground it triggers when battery is accepting a charge of 7+ amps; usually this will happen after a battery engine start. Message would last for a short period and then will go off; that is totally normal and should not provide any concern.
However, if it shows in flight that means a malfunction has occurred and the proper POH procedure nust be followed.
Illuminating of BAT TIE OPEN message is related to a relay malfunction, and not directly connected to battery charge issues. If it always illuminate when BAT CHARGE has triggered, that would be not right.
When it happens, turn BAT switch OFF and then ON, and it should restore to normal.

Hope this helps.

Engine anti ice is usually turned ON on the ground and during taxi to prevent FOD, especially when operating in small airports without paved ramps/taxiways. It is turned OFF at takeoff unless icing is present. Other ai systems should be set ON whenever icing conditions prevails (moisture, etc), so it’s up to the pilot to monitor the current weather situation.

How do I calculate the fuel for a trip with this airplane?
