Wondering if the Blackbird Simulations Cessna 310R is now 2024-native, or if it’s the same files as 2020 and is just 2024-comatible?

It’s still 2020 native, but compatible in 2024.
We are working on a native 2024 version of the C310.
As others in this and other threads have said, it works well in 2024 with no major issues I’ve found. Blackbird has also confirmed a 2024 native version is in development (or at least on their schedule) however it will be a 100% new product with no upgrade path for current owners of the product.
I have mixed feelings about this decision based on precedents set by other developers ranging from discount to 100% free upgrades for prior owners, but as long as the update substantial and the aircraft fully takes advantage 2024-exclusive features (models the default EFB, integrates their custom EFB into the default as an app, visible passengers and/or cargo, avionics which sync to the Planner app, Career mode, etc) then I’ll certainly pay full price for a new version of the 310R.
If it’s a PMDG-level “update” where anything 2024-exclusive is fully under the hood then I’ll sit this one out and keep enjoying the 2020 version.

First day purchase for me - I have the one in 2020 and loved it.
I have my doubts that everything will be totally new. I mean why would you when the 2020 one works just fine. I guess it’s another way to try and generate more sales. I for one will not be bothering. It just doesn’t move the needle enough.
It’s pretty dated in a lot of ways compared to current gen high quality releases. I think a more complex redesign instead of just an update is the right move.
Similar as for example with the GAs from Justflight.
Not sure how people will react to not getting any discount but it might depend on how much will be really reworked in the end and to what level 
How a developer prices an update like this is their choice of course but it puts me off making the purchase. I have a number of Milviz/Blackbird aircraft including the C310R. It works in 2024 much as it did in 2020 and I like it but I don’t feel inclined to pay full price for a 2024 version. I encourage them to consider some sort of discount for owners of the 2020 version. They now have some serious competition in that segment.
i completely agree. i’m excited for a proper upgrade as the latest 2024 addons are pretty superior in every way with many new features. but lts be honest the vast majority of the base code will remain the same, so it makes sense for them to offer a discount to existing users. a lot of devs are already doing this.

Well, if it’s 2024 rebuild, it’s definitely NOT work done once. Developing for 2024 is hell compared to 2020. I imagine once you’ve got a process down, it’s not as bad, but, if they’re doing all the 2024 doo-dads, it is not work done once. Even just making all the LOD’s and figuring out how to optimize that so you don’t have disappearing parts even in the cockpit, just that process alone takes forever for a plane as complex as this. And there’s so much more in developing a plane for 2024.
Wanna know why there’s so few 2024 native planes over a year and a half in, even though we had all that 2020 stock to build from?.. Because it’s freakin’ hard! It really is developing a whole new plane.
I’m not suggesting no extra work is being done, which is why I’m not suggesting 2020 owners get the 2024 version for nothing. But to suggest that absolutely zero work done to create the 2020 version, whether that’s textures, modeling, systems, or even just the research to understand the aircraft would carry over into the 2024 version is just false.
Textures - Have to redo them, most of the time, completely. That’s why no 2020 liveries work with truly native 2024 versions.
Systems - There’s all new stuff in 2024. Sure, they understand the systems, but, gotta rewrite them
Research - Sure, the POH they got to help design the plane is still the same…
Even what PMDG is doing is a ton of work… easily 100’s of hours for a plane that complex. Maybe more.
The point is they are not literally starting from scratch, so why am I paying for research and efforts I’ve already paid for? The vast majority of developers have made the decision to offer discounts or even, in more than one case, made the upgrade 100% free.
The market will bear what it can, I guess. I won’t be paying full price for the aircraft in 2024, there are just too many other great 2024-native options in that segment at this point.
That’s really good news ! I’ve posted in the support forum a couple of times about the instrument lights in 2024 and the lack of response had me thinking the 310 was almost abandonware. Great to hear it isn’t, and eventually I’ll be able to fly at night without the red dome light slightly on 
Let’s not kid ourselves here. Stuff will get reused. They are not going to sit down and re do stuff from a blank canvas. I mean why would you if you don’t need to. If it’s correct and it’s the same price for everyone then that’s not exactly looking out for your existing customer base I think is the point that is being made here.
They will likely reuse the same textures, juat have to process them for 2024. The planes 3D model will be the same mesh, but again altered to support the new LOD system in 2024. I think we can see where this is going for the audio files.
Nobody is going to go out and take new photographs of textures or record new plane audio for their 2024 version.
I don’t doubt there is a lot of work that goes into a 2024 version, but if anyone wants a perfect example of money for old rope, take a look at the 2024 Islander from BBS. Those cockpit textures are FSX era quality, and not what I would expect from a 2020 native plane, let alone a 2024 native one.
