Fantastic. Looking forward to the update
This is great news, I love the Islander! Is there a discount privilege for those of us who bought it through the in-game market?
Yes … the discount is you get a FREE UPDATE
I read through the thread quickly so apologies if I missed this, is the study level update going to be available on xbox as well? Or is that SU10/Wasm blocked?
If it’s going to be truly accurate then I’m willing to give the full price for that but I’ve not been impressed by what I read about this product so far so I won’t be risking an early purchase just to save €5 based on it being called study level. Much rather wait until release and see if all the promise comes true.
Oh cool! I don’t know why I thought it was going to be a separate release. Thanks for clarifying!
(shrug) I’m gonna keep having fun in the Islander. The updated version is just going to be even better!
PC and XBOX ( Both bypassing WASM to achieve working DME)
Really ??

Love the Islander (and Trislander) I’m taking the Islander on a trip bombing around Norway in the Norving livery. Good times…
Don’t be put off by those comments that might be putting the emphasis on supposedly lacklustre textures etc. Flight model, sound and usability are all rated very highly by almost everyone who has written about the Islander here. For the study level features, do check the separate Trislander thread on what to expect. Also, the Your Top 5 Aircraft thread gives a pretty good indication of buyers being satisfied with their BN2 purchases.
No just not the ones you want me to. I don’t apologise for being sceptical until I satisfy myself its for real. Hype and sponsored reviews never tell the real story. Deliver what is promised and I’ll probably purchase.
The Islander has been in my Top 5 since I bought it. It has staying power.
Of course not the ones we want you to… But just look at the numbers
Negative reviews of EARLY Release Islander pointing out minor issues = a very small minority…
Whereas, positive reviews of subsequently Updated and Improved Releases = VAST Majority
Also, if you are unsure of the study level quality and level of detail please feel free to purchase the Highly appraised BN2 MkIII Trislander … The V2.0 Islander Update will be improved to this and even higher levels
Finally, there are NO Sponsored reviews…
ALL are impartial, unbiased and unpaid
I love the islander and couldn’t be more excited for the update.
It’s such a blast to fly and has a very good FM.
Of course I’d expect a dev to say that. Ever watched a film with a high rating and didn’t like it. It happens with sim aircraft too so ratings don’t mean a lot to me. I think I know what I like better than anyone so there is no need trying to convince. I’ll make my own mind up thanks based on what I look for and think. If i like the improved version I’d probably also be up for the turbine variant assuming it was of the same level.
I have some questions for you Sling… If ratings mean nothing to you, and you are convinced reviews are paid for and biased, and you expect a developer to back his product (while “silently” accusing him of untruth), then does only your opinion carry weight in your estimation? If so, then how do you expect to formulate such an opinion without hands-on experience of a product?
The developer is going out of his way to answer you honestly and openly, but you come across as a tad belligerent and biased from the start. Given the tone of the correspondence so far, what would it take in any third party product to actually satisfy your standards? Have you found it in any third party offering so far, and if so which one?
Not trying to be confrontational, just trying to move this conversation along in a helpful way.
It’s funny the way some things get interpreted. I said the reviews are often sponsored. Meaning they are given free copies of the products. This is not unique to Blackbox but to me it means a reviewer has the motive to not fully say what they think. I’m not for one minute sugesting anything other than this is my opinion based on the reviews I’ve either read or watched and having a knowledge of the product in question. Your personal experience may vary. I never made any mention of an untruth so that is completely left field.
Because you get to know what to look for and those to listen to who have a similar view to you, particularly about products you already own.
Not at all. I was stating my position nothing more. The dev then replied with I’ve been reading the wrong reviews. Biased in so much as I’ve already made my mind up on the current offering but very much open minded on what the new version may bring. Hence while I said I’m happy to wait and pay the full price if i like it after release.
A good quality flight model and realistic systems simulation with good support for third party control. The Kodiak, Cessna 414 and 310 are good examples of this. I own all 3.
Thank you for your reply. It helps better understand where you are coming from. Let us hope that the entire sim continues to move to the fidelity we all want to see.
