Blackbox MSFS2024 Britten Norman Islander

i’d be perfectly happy with it if it could fly Light Cargo routes, which are well within its specs. it’s known for short hops (Scotland to the Shetlands etc).

The classes of cargo are not defined by the range of the aircraft but by its cargo capacity, and the BN-2 is firmly in the medium category. Asobo just needs to create a wider variety of mission lengths for the specialization.

It should be able to go that distance - I think again its an issue with the fuel calcs which they have done for a single engine and not 2.

Probably depends on its cargo load. Fully loaded and to have fuel to spare for safety? Might not.

I have often flown in career mode with zero cargo in the hold - same fuel use - ie too much, same payout, same rep. They need to fix a ton of stuff!

Zero visible cargo? Or zero cargo by weight?

they still haven’t fixed that? yikes.

Both, zero cargo and cant see any

It was the card for the 404 Titan.

thanks. the stats display must be picking aircraft at random, since i don’t even own a 404 Titan (in my virtual logistics company).

Click on the full mission briefing button before selecting the missions.

The BN-2 has a max weight (combined fuel and cargo) of 2060 lbs, so it can’t ever do this one, it can’t even carry the cargo. Here’s a mission it can do in Europe

2060 - 1567 = 493lbs for fuel

This is something I didn’t understand initially when getting annoyed the C208 didn’t seem to be able to do many freelance missions - in that case it’s max weight is like 3500 but it’s fuel use is higher so it still tends not to have that many missions.

The single most obvious fix is if blackbox addressed those numbers in the plane config, it looks like each variant has the same numbers for fuel capacity and max weight (which MAY be a program limitation, I don’t know). Where as they should be different for each variant (i.e cargo has most, it has no seats, to passenger has least because of the seats etc). This MAY be a programme limitation - I don’t know if MSFS allows a different set of numbers for variants of a plane.

The problem with so few available missions you have to buy so many aircraft to place them in and around the missions. So much about this mode is unthought.

So frustrating in that what little 3rd party aircraft we have in career mode about half of them dont even work in career mode because of the modes railroadness

this is certainly the last 3rd party aircraft i’ll buy to use in Career Mode. I should have known there’d be insurmountable issues, given my ongoing less-than-stellar experience with Career’s implementation passim.

I’m glad you’re sharing your feedback! I’m happy with the 2020 version and seeing this keeps me from getting the new one

I just had a bunch of those scientific ‘tornado’ missions spawn yesterday evening, all with the BN-2, I might give one those a swing for a laugh, I haven’t done one since the unlocking mission in the DA62. I’ve enjoyed revisiting the skydiving missions to be fair, as I’ve got better at flying these things in sim, the power management to get a good score when releasing the divers, and the steep non-textbook descents are surprisingly rewarding. They don’t pay a lot of credits but I don’t really need them to, it’s more just something to do. If Asobo make changes eventually to make it inject more missions that suit things like the C208, then this plane will benefit anyhow.

If you free flight - it’s actually quite nice to fly, I think it’s positive still.

Is there any way to add passengers or cargo? Nothing in the tablet and nothing in Configure. What would be the point of flying around with an empty cargo bay???

My god nothing works! I played with the parking brake until it finally held. Then SHIFT-C to walkaround and it started rolling away.

Here’s where it came to rest at the bottom of the WAU airport in Papau New Guinea.

It installed into fs20–blackbox… Does that mean I have the wrong version? Marketplace said it was for 2020 and 2024.

There is a BN-2 = 2020 version and a BN2, 2024 version. No - for the 24 version.

Thanks for helping. Wow that’s not good. Will the 2020 work in 24? I don’t use career mode.

Yes, the 2020 was updated to be 2024-compatible
