I’ve had the same issue for some time. Even when I did what the thread mentioned, my icon turned blank again a bit later. I’ve got an icon on my taskbar that continues to work/look right. But I’d really rather have a desktop shortcut that worked right all the time. Not sure what’s causing the issue for me, but hope something in that thread works for you.

You need to do that procedure in the attached post, every time, you update MSFS 2024. I assume you are in Beta… that explains everything.

For your info I’m not in the beta and never had any shorted start. Issue appeared after I did sfc /scannow which is somthing I do every month or so
Mine are strange in that my desktop shortcuts just periodically change the icon to a blank page showing instead of the MSFS icon even without an update being downloaded (including the navdata update). The funny part is, the icons I’ve added to my taskbar have never disappeared, and always work, too!

This seems to happen to me with any app installed via the Xbox app anytime said app receives and update - at least that’s my going theory. I usually have to delete the desktop shortcut, open the Xbox app, and re-add to desktop.
Thanks. Still have the issue when I open the XBox app and create the desktop shortcut, a blank page icon shows up, but it always works. Not sure why it’s not finding the correct icon file (or appropriate dll, etc).
It’s a mystery!

They’ve only had 30 years to get it working reliably since Windows 95. Give them some time. It’s on the list
