BMWorld LIPZ on 2024 Marketplace?

Was a little surprised to see a 2024 version of BMWorld’s LIPZ on the Microsoft Marketplace. Most of the other online stores have removed BMWorld products because of suspected copyright violations. Before that happened, I purchased my 2020 version on Orbx who does not currently list the new version for upgrade.

Is the presence on the Marketplace an Indication that they may not have done something wrong or just an oversight by MS? I’ll write to Orbx as well but is there a way to transfer my license for this product to the Marketplace to get an upgraded version?

Hi,

yes most other platforms have banned BMW. I also purchased my BMW products at Orbx and with a couple of others there was some discussion with the Orbx staff about it on discord, because we are now stuck with dead products without updates. Updates which we would have had access on other platforms. Dont get me wrong here, I understand the reason behind the ban, but there should also be a solution to the customers. Also the tone that the Orbx staff used to communicate was quiet “irritating” to me. BMW has already updated most of their products be fully compatible to MSFS2024. Orbx does not seem to care about offering a solution to this issue. I spend a lot on their platform in total. I mean why not finding some kind of compromise, offering a voucher or whatever, but no accept the fact that you have a dead product. Fortunately there are plenty of other platforms to choose from, as far as Iam concerned Iam done with Orbx. But everyone has to make this decision for themselves.

Best regards

I for one find it a shame that BMW felt the need to do what they did. While their stuff wasn’t the absolute best, it was very good, and we as a community are worse off without them. Luckily all my BMW purchases were made at the in-sim Marketplace so I can access updates — although they’re now offered by BMW rebrand Glideslope Pro.

I’ve heard the dev is allowing transfers via his own website but I’ve not checked out the legitimacy of this claim.

I can empathise with the frustration with Orbx but I doubt they can offer a viable solution that wouldn’t somehow serve to excuse the actions of BMW. Rogue trading must have consequences, unfortunately. I think Orbx’s hands are tied, and their policy re BMW/Glideslope Pro is no different to that of any other store.

I agree on all what you have said, but Iam surprised Orbx is not offering some kind of compromise. I mean at the end they have made money with it and I think Orbx has a lot of options to find a good compromise with respect to their store and their customers. That there cant be a compromise with BMW is understandable, but that is not directly my problem.

They just need to provide the updates, it’s not like they’re selling the product. Just like other devs that no longer sell on their store(for ex. pyreegue), they still provide updates…

It is highly unlikely that any company which has been banned from their (Orbx) platform for whatever reason is still willing to provide updates to that same platform. I doubt that, thats not gonna happen.

I agree it is unlikely they will provide their updates to the platforms that banned them. They should make some provision for the customers who purchased their products though. Some kind of license transfer should be provided. I own 8 of their products which were purchased before I knew what had happened. They are KMEM, KMIA, KOAK, KBPI, KPHX, KSAN, KSEA, and LIPZ. Kind of stinks to be stranded.

I looked. They have a free transfer program and reference it prominently on glideslope.pro.

Just submitted all 8 airports for transfer to Glideslope.pro. Sent over the purchase receipts using the procedure on their site. We’ll see what happens with it.

Know there are some not so positive feelings for these folks but I would like the 2024 versions of the airports I paid for.

I never knew about this, appreciate the heads up.

Even though BMWorld have been banned Orbx and inibuilds platform are still willingly selling BMworlds products..and Orbx still list them as partners??

BMW are still listed on IniBuilds but if you click on them, it returns no products. I’ve just visited Orbx and they’re definitely not listed there. As far as I know, the only store still selling BMW products (albeit as Glideslope Pro) is the in-sim Marketplace.

BMW’s collaborative partner, Amsim, still have a presence at most stores because there was no proof they were connected to (or even aware of) BMW’s activities.

Just want to the glideslope.pro site to see if they added the requested scenery to my account yet. Was not really expecting it given the holiday weekend but checked anyways.

Site is totally down..nothing. Not a good sign.

It works for me, I’ve just checked.

Interesting. I can’t get it to. Was on yesterday too. You using the url glideslope.pro?

Yes. I actually didn’t know this page exists.

Perhaps a DNS issue? Is so, likely will resolve itself at some point.

Good news! Got an email from Glideslope.pro today and they transferred 7 of the 8 products I requested over to my Glideslope.pro account.

The site was working again for me and I was able to download and install NEWER versions of the sceneries I had previously downloaded from Orbx or IniBuilds. Good times.

Ironically, the one scenery they did not transfer was LIPZ which is the one I wanted when I started this thread in the first place. I suspect they just missed it so I resent the information for LIPZ. Hopefully, it comes over to my account in a day or two.

I think LIPZ is not labeled under Glideslope Pro, it is just BMW. Same for Genoa unfortunately which is one of my favorite airports…

You are correct. LIPZ is not sold new on the site either. Oh well. Happy to have the other 7 (KSAN looks great) and will go for the Barelli version of LIPZ.

Would you say Miami, phoenix, and San Diego offer good performance for 2024? I’m on the fence when it comes to purchasing phoenix and San Diego, and i already had Miami for 2020, which ran horribly. Is there an improvement in fps in 2024?

I own their KMIA and KSAN and for me MSFS2024 in general runs much smoother with higher fps than MSFS2020, so these airport addons run better for me as well.
