Brief description of the issue:

Widely reported by many forum users: The LE flaps do not deploy when the manual states that they should. They never deploy in all the testing I’ve done.
The indicator lights in the cockpit turn blue when the trailing edge flaps are completely retracted, and turn off when and the flaps are deployed. It seems that the indicator light should show as blue when the LE flaps do deploy? Since the LE flaps are not deploying at all, I can’t tell what the correct indicator behavior is supposed to be.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Deploy flaps to where the manual indicated the LE flaps should be deployed (14 degrees). LE Flaps do not deploy.

Yes

Leading Edge (Krueger) Slats do not deploy at all at any flap setting. Blue lights for slats come on when flaps retracted. Manual suggests in images and text that they should be able to be deployed.

The LE flaps are deployed with the Pan Am livery if you load in as an Arrival at any airport. To do this, just click on an airport on the world map and click ā€œSet as Arrivalā€ and then click ā€œFlyā€.

The LE flaps are never able to be retracted in this situation, even if the flaps are completely up and then accelerating to extremely high speed.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

yes

Blue lights: wrong code in folder ModelBehaviorDefs, file B707_front.xml, NODE_IDs warn_flapfail_left and warn_flapfail_right.
Extend and retract: missing code to animate, although Simvars LEADING EDGE FLAPS LEFT PERCENT and LEADING EDGE FLAPS RIGHT PERCENT can be written to succesfully.

The mod mentioned above no longer works in SU4 it seems. So this is still a bug for the 707.

Also, the 707 is now ā€œunverifiedā€ on the My Library page for FS2024, and as an Aviator edition plane that seems like it has been mostly forgotten.

The 707 released with this bug over a year ago and it has still never been fixed. As in my original post, the manual for the aircraft it shows them working.

This is in my opinion the most important bug to fix for the 707 because it actually changes the flight dynamics for landing and taking off pretty drastically.

Why is it taking so long to solve this?

IMO it’s now abandonware. If it had not been for the FS2024 juggernaut releasing about a month after the 707, there may have been a window for fixing this. Now the original dev doesn’t seem to care and MS is too busy fixing FS2024 and launching the sim on PS5.

Too bad to hear that the even the community mod is now broken too in SU4. Although many users not on PC wouldn’t even have had access to the mod, so have never had working LE flaps.

All in all quite shocking but not surprising. But after a year I’d say nothing is going to be forthcoming.

My hope is that because it’s part of the aviator edition it might make them take a second look, but I know there are many other planes in the aviator edition that are even more broken than this.

There’s a good reason I didn’t buy aviator edition. But it’s still disappointing to see them not even patch the glaring bug that is the LE flaps on the 707. Which even the dev’s flight modeller said was working before release and hinted that the wrong version had been released. It’s so frustrating as it is now ā€˜bug logged’ status.

Jorg mentioned 70 aircraft are being updated for SU4. I really hope this is one of them, as it’s close to being enjoyable, if they get basic functionality like the LE flaps working.

I guess many aircraft patches could still be in the works, but I’d love to see those aircraft fixes in the beta so we can test them out. I guess they don’t want to release so we can just check the base sim though. We shall see. On a not entirely unrelated issue, I wish we could see changelogs for updates without having to wait for sim update release notes. We should be able to click on My Library and the add on and an ā€˜info’ section to see what changed from version to version.

Not working anymore with SU4 beta?

Currently, I keep using SU3. When SU4 final is released, I try to solve the issue and make a new version.

Meanwhile, binding some of your hardware controls to WASM calculator codes, you could control them:
ā€x (>A:LEADING EDGE FLAPS LEFT PERCENT,PERCENT)ā€ and ā€œx (>A:LEADING EDGE FLAPS RIGHT PERCENT,PERCENT)ā€, where x ranges from 0 (retracted) to 100 (fully extended).

I downloaded today an update for the FS2020 B707, from v0.1.25 to v0.2.0 (no details in the release notes).
The LE flaps deploy as expected (not sure if it has been fixed in a prior release) but blue lights still turn off when deployed and turn on when retracted.

In FS2024 the FS2020 version still says ā€˜unverified’ but it is at v0.2.0.

It was updated from v0.1.25 to v0.2.0 in FS2020.
Maybe in FS2024 version has also been updated today to v0.2.0 ?. More difficult to know since for the streamed aircraft they are automatically updated.

it’s v 0.2.0 too, just still says ā€˜unverified’ but there’s a lot of fs2020 content that says that too. Maybe we’ll get details in SU4 release notes eventually.

Awesome, it’s fixed for me now. Plane flies great.

Only took about a year or so :joy:, but props to getting it updated :raising_hands:

Thanks for confirming !. The related issue that remains are the flaps blue lights that are inverted (correct me if I am wrong). Should be a new report
