On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being best), how do you rate your Overall Enjoyment of this aircraft?
Feels like the XB-1 needs constant elevator and aileron trim. It’s a chore for sure. Landing with an obstructed view is a real challenge too, although I had plenty of training in the Darkstar as far as that goes. I don’t mind the challenge.
Initially I thought this aircraft was pulling right when braking, making it really hard to control, but then I discovered it’s an issue with SU4 affecting the left brake axis on my flightstick that affects all aircraft - so after binding brakes to a button instead, it brakes just fine.
I think my biggest general criticism would be the exterior view being much too far away and much too high. This is a common issue in the sim and I wonder why.
Did you have the stability/dampening switches turned on? Left panel there are a few switches for elevator and aileron dampening. I did my whole flight yesterday without them and was constantly trimming for level flight. Even at a consistent speed. Gotta try again today
The Q-Feel system imposes a less responsive input/deflection. It is absolutely an aircraft that you must be on top of - it’s too easy to enter a high VVS rate just by taking your hand off the column for even a second. It gives a great appreciation for Geppetto’s skill - which is undoubtedly enhanced by being a US Navy Test Pilot School graduate.
