Wondering if BA 787-8 will be coming soon. I have seen many posts about it on FB groups in the last 24 hrs.
For PC users, does this offer anything different versus the Kuro B788?
I would seriously doubt it. Is it not just a -8 option for xbox users who cant access the Kuro -8 or Horizon -9 versions.
The April 13 update on their web page suggests itās just xbox.
Is this due for release on Xbox later on today/tomorrow?
I guess it depends on where you live. Today for western hemisphere, tomorrow for eastern.
Was it supposed to include simbrief integration? I just bought it thinking it had it but am disappointed to see that itās not there.
I guess it should. The default 787 has it and is based on that one.
Should come with an update
Watched a few streams of it today and some other reviews, as a PC user Iāll stick with the already available mods.
This is still based of the Premium Deluxe 787 with custom modeling and a few other tweaks. Not really worth it in my opinion.
Worth it for Xbox users like me. Glad it came out.
Thats true. Not worth if you are on PC
Since all variants of the Dreamliner use the same systems, why is it a problem that an add-on relies on the default avionics? The 3D modeling and the flight model is custom, so for all intents and purposes itās a different aircraft. Yes, you need to own the Premium Deluxe edition, but the add-on is priced accordingly. If it was completely separate then it would probably cost just as much more, so we probably wouldnāt be much better off with that.
I have seen reports this plane is actually using an old fork of the Kuro.
I havenāt done any side by side testing, but this would be an indication this not on the level of existing free options on PC.
Feels like a way to take advantage of Xbox users.
There are 2 things I dislike:
-
The amount of dust and dirtiness in the cockpit glass screens and windshield is wayy too much.
-
When taxi and making sharp turns it looks like its still sitting in a -10 tricycle landing gear. The main landing gear is not the pivot point but also translates sideways, feels odd even from the cockpit.
OK, took the plunge considering the price point, mainly for the visuals. Hereās my observations after a 3hr (4x compressed) flight.
Note: Iām on PC (5950/3090) and have used the Kuro 787-8 and Horizon 787-9 as well as the default 787-10
PROS
- it has a really nice passenger cabin
- it has a nice exterior model, with detailed undercarriage (you can even read the labels etc)
- boarding done via the animated mid passenger door which is a nice touch that the 787-10 could do with having
- a ālived inā look cockpit with various odds and ends lying around
- nice sounds
- nice texturing in cockpit and passenger cabin
- not too many obvious low polygon cabin windows, all look good
- has a wear and tear look everywhere, especially on screens
- comes with 9 liveries from around world + matching airline specific cabin interiors (potentially more to come)
- cabin offers infinite possibilities for passenger type views to exterior
- itās actually nice on long flights to go for a wander around a 787 passenger cabin
- wing flex is there
- groovy/colorful interior night lighting in cabin
- 2 engine types (GE & RR)
- exterior effects (vapor, tyre smoke etc)
- uses AAU2 WT avionics so behaves much the same as the 787-10
- dev stated future updates are planned, one imminent by the sound of things (simbrief)
- we donāt have a 787 with a passenger cabin currently available in the sim, and it really adds to the experience
- seems stable (after a 4x compress sim rate flight from EGPF to MMUN {4,358 nm})
- itās priced very reasonably for what you get ( exterior model, 9 liveries with matching interiors, sounds, extra eye candy)
CONS
- requires premium deluxe version (787-10) of sim to work
- No simbrief integration yet but coming very soon with next update
- Perf EFB currently not working/communicating with FMC so need to enter perf data manually into FMC, maybe the next update will fix this?
- needs a GSX profile, none provided or available yet, so no GSX stair/conveyor belt connections available
- thereās not really any extra animations eg. cockpit door wonāt open.
- no extra functionality over default 787-10 (AAU2)
- no cabin calls
- 5.5GB installation size
- on PC, itās a similar experience to freeware Kuro, but with a passenger cabin added
- no ādoorsā control option in the EFB like the Horizon 787-9 has
- wear and tear and dirt may not be to everyoneās taste eg. screen & window dirt is quite heavy/excessive. Some cockpit screens depending on the light hitting them can IMO look āsand blastedā rather than dirty. In places it reminds me of how something looks if you go painting the ceiling with a roller but forget to put dust sheets down - (small paint spray splatters everywhere). The windscreen is quite dirty too.
SUMMARY
- offers on XBox what the Kuro did on PC, but with a really nice passenger cabin added.
- A no cabin option is to be made available for XBox users who need more performance.
- Did I mention the cabin!
Some screenshots.
Well, you convinced me. Iām on Xbox, soā¦
Thank you for your detailed review.
Hope it works out on xbox cabin interior wise. I do note heās releasing an option for without cabin for xbox, but thereās nothing quite like seing the cabin on this one. Fingers crossed the xbox memory works out.
Didnāt he mentioned Series S specifically? Iām on X, so hopefully it works out well.
I didnāt see any mention of x or s, but I didnāt go beyond his website to go looking for that type of info. Itās probably worth it for xbox users even minus the cabin. I really liked the 788 Kuro on PC and it has no cabin. Thereās just somehting nice about flying the shorter 787.
