Hello. I recently carried out several flights into and out of Stuttgart airport (EDDS). I have the handcrafted airport by Microsoft installed that I believe is included with World Update 6.
The ground textures over the entire area of the airport are very large/blocky and ‘pixellated’, and show a strobing type effect whenever I move the camera view. The ground textures just aren’t right at all but it’s hard to describe any further, so I’ve attached a couple of screenshots to show the problem. Beyond the airport area, the textures appear fine.
I’ve also noticed that the ground texture problem is also visible on the World Map. I’ve included a screenshot of this. The problem is the same when I use default aircraft (e.g. Cessna 152) as well as third party.
Has anyone else seen this problem or have an idea how I might go about fixing it? Thanks.
Hey, made a quick heli checkflight (DX12). Made 4 flights over the airport. Got different ground textures, but not this bad broken textures like you. Got fine textures (saw the road marking around and between the airport buildings. Made a return (east > west direction). Made the same flight as before. Got raw ground textures. Buildings are fine. Only streets and places are ugly (blurred, raw). Next flight was fine again.
Think it’s a photogrammetry/server issue.
The whole test/flight in the same altitude.
To update anyone that may see this topic, I’ve since tried uninstalling the Microsoft/Asobo handcrafted airport, however the problem is unchanged. Whether I have the handcrafted Stuttgart airport or just default airport scenery installed, the ground textures over the airfield are broken (both in-game and on the world map).
Any ideas? Has anyone experienced this problem with this airport or any other?
loaded into the sim after leaving the sim r re-downloading all the base sim packages overnight and still like this … anyone else having this at EDDS? i can’t find it at any other airport. this is just thee handcrafted from Asobo
hello yes have encountered exactly same ground texture problem at EDDS. noticed it a few weeks ago, recently had to do a fresh install of msfs and problem still there. had a look at Stuttgart on bing maps and seems the airport area is blurred out so issue seems to be coming from bing map source from what i can tell
So, it would appear that at some point after Asobo/Microsoft chose to add a hand-crafted Stuttgart airport to MSFS that the underlying Bing map textures were again obscured after apparently being made available back around July 2021.
Does anyone have any advice about how to take this forward? Would Zendesk be the correct avenue to ask them to investigate? If I knew how, I would also have this topic integrated into the original I’ve linked above.
As an aside, it is comically non-sensical that the airport is obscured in the Bing maps - if you zoom to Stuttgart airport on Bing maps and then switch on the ‘3D Flyover’ option, the entire airport is shown completely without being obscured at all!
It would appear that the new City Update 6 and its focus on south-west Germany, including Stuttgart, has fixed this bug. With CU6 installed from the marketplace, the ground textures appear normal. So problem solved (at least for now!)
I have the same problem at EDDS. All the latest world, city and sim updates installed. I have the issue with RD Presets EDDS. I have the Asobo version uninstalled. The only “fix” for me currently is to turn photogrammetry on - which I do not normally have on. If anyone knows of a proper fix, it will be much appreciated.
I have the same issue. I am using the MSFS EDDS scenery and the ILS runway fix. Nothing else. But the satellite photo is jammed like the one of MRTNAIRLINES.
Another Internet source mentioned that the Bing Maps seem to be the problem, because of millitary activity on EDDS airport. They blurred it. Is that true or is this a bug ?
Another question: I am using Navigraph. Here there is a taxi way “Hotel”. In MSFS ground textures it is painted “L1” on the ground. Has taxiway L1 been renamed to Hotel ? Has anyone a fix for that ?
