C172 AP - Amazing new stability in 1.11.6.0

I am amazed to see the improvement to the AP in the C172 Classic !!
(after patch release to 1.11.6.0)

GREAT Job … ( almost too good ??)

The AP off Impulse response is as before, which turned out to be almot 100% Real World Accurate.

The AP on Impulse response is just “out of this world”.
Certainly no “Twitchiness” left there !!!

I don’t have any Real World responses, but an educated guess would say that it is is way faster and more stable than “Real World”
I cannot see a real C172 recovering to such a rock steady stable level flight in 5 seconds, after major pitch disturbance, but WELL DONE “Software” …

It’s so much more stable than before, but having shown it can be made to be this :“Ideal”, maybe a more “realistic” response can be achieved if this is ever looked at and addressed again.

AP ON - Response prior to 1.11.6.0

AP OFF response not changed. ( OFF is OFF !!! )

For the C172 classic, what was changed in .cfg files is hidden… but one would assume Asobo did the same changes for the C172 g1000, and those .cfg file are exposed.

Is interesting to study the differences, even if the changes do open a whole new “Pandora’s Box” , about the validity of tweaking these .cfg files, to cover up suspected failures in the overall MSFS Flight modeling.

They may have improved pitch, but heading AP is hosed. It rolls out of the turn 30+ degrees before the target heading and takes forever to turn the last bit. Instead of nice U-shaped turns, if you try to fly a holding pattern, you get this horrible drunken looking ground track. And intercepting a localizer at an angle >30 degrees is a no go.

Well, in theory, that could be changed to be more like the Pitch, and have the plane do a 5G right angle turn … !!!

In the software, you can do just about anything non-real world that you want !!

I’m “excited” to go see what they did to make the AP Pitch so “magical” !!

well, the AP Pitch stability with AP on, is now, nothing short of “amazing” !!

As for bank, as you say, takes FOR EVER to turn back !!!
Now it is plotted, and a reference, it may just be a question of correcting the flight Model
