:white_check_mark: ISSUE DESCRIPTION

  1. Description of the issue:
In the Commercial Pilot License - Rotorcraft Certification section, the first training mission called “Introduction” cannot be completed. When you start the helicopter when prompted, the instructor tells you to wait and that you aren’t finished yet. The mission then restarts. When you get to the to same part you are able to start the rotorcraft this time, however looking at the control panel will not let you progress. This is repeatable and reproducible. It has also been verified by people on the MSFS discord and subreddit. They also claim the the next two training missions feature similar issues that prevent completion.

  2. Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
    Yes, and Yes

:white_check_mark: FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you? (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• I have exactly the same issue in the first helicopter training mission. I can’t finish it because it doesn’t register me looking at the monitor and also restarts because apparently we were not ready.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• The follwing missions seem to work for me. However the mixture lever on the roof of the helicopter is always set to 0% so the engine will turn off. This can be fixed for now by simply setting it to 100% immediately and just hit the engine starter again if necessary

• I completed the mission and landed the helicopter and the mission does not end.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes. Tried three or four times

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• the instructor says we’re starting again and the EPM continues to be highlighted throughout. When’s asked to look at the EPM the second time it’s impossible to get it to acknowledge that you’ve looked it and so you’re stuck.

workaround: turn the engine on the first time just after you’re asked to get in the helicopter, that will trigger the restart. You should be able to follow the instructions now as intended because the “look at the epm” action wasn’t triggered yet…

OMGosh you are amazing it worked!!! For anyone trying it, you can’t just jump in anytime and do what he says, wait till he says “get in”, then spam ctrl + e after you get in until he says “wait”. Now it’ll work fine.

Thank you so much! Still needs fixed but at least we can move past it now.

Thanks, It finally worked after doing this.

Starting the engine causes it to take off if you aren’t quick enough to kill the throttle. Problem was after making you sit through it all again you are still look staring at the screen and it wont progress.

Xbox workaround. (some steps may be unnecessary but it seemed to work)

  1. After you get in, set the mixture (roof) to 100% and start the engine [RB]+Dpad down.
  2. After it restarts you are inside but you can still look up back at the rotor & tail.
  3. I reset the mixture (roof) back to 100% just in case.
  4. Then it mixed up different sections of the tutorial, I stuck with it.
  5. And it took me to the end.
  6. Truthfully when it previously hung at ‘look at the panel’ there wan’t much more to learn, but having the tutorial ticked off is tidy.

I can not complete the first helicopter training lesson.
There is something before engine start missing. If I do nothing, the game waits forever.
When I hit then the keys for starting the motor, the flight teacher shuts it off again and the training starts over from the beginning (Listening to all the text over and over again).

THIS REQUIRES A SKIP BUTTON! I wasted hours on this.I even can speak the lesson simultaneously…

Exact same issue. He says we need to start the engine to examine the EFI, but no prompt shows up to tell us to start the engine. And if you hit “Ctl-E” to start the engine like he instructed, he then says we were wrong and starts the lesson over.

Same for me. It did not work from the career mode, but if I enter the first training directly as an activity it does work fine.
But then in the second training the heli crashes before I take over control (lack of engine?).

Like this?

Yeah I can’t complete it either. I was really looking forward to learning the helicopter stuff and take the career route to Search & Rescue. Gonna drop the game for a year and come back then. Otherwise, it’s garbage in my opinion. Like really? They didn’t think to QA the introduction to different licenses? Really? Also, sometimes I’m out on some janky airstrip or I’ve even been out on a helipad with a Cessna :joy: like how am I gonna fly off the building?

For what it’s worth, the training missions are not required. If you have the funds, you can jump right to the exam. That’s what I did when I was hitting this bug. You may even be able to just go to the other training missions without completing the first one, but I didn’t try that. I just jumped right to the exam since I’ve flown them in 2020.

Same thing here. on PC. Have not tried go straight to certification because I don’t have all the money, but this BUG is there and persists.

same problem

I’ve found a solution for this problem:

The solution to not restart the mission when the instructor asks us to turn on the engine is to make SURE that the collective is at 0%.
I was having the same issue, and I noticed my collective was at 0.7%, so I forced my HOTAS in order to ensure it was at 0%.

The engine picked up and the lesson was not restarted. The lesson progressed and I completed it successfully.
