Cannot complete mission at closed airport ETIE Heidelberg AAF

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

This is on PC with no mods.

I accepted a ferry flight mission where the destination was ETIE Heidelberg AAF. After landing, exiting the runway and holding short, the normal window was shown to announce “taxi to parking”. However, pressing ENTER had no affect, so I couldn’t advance the mission without skipping.

Opening the radio doesn’t provide an option to tune the COMs for anything at ETIE. Furthermore, in the online Flight Planner ETIE doesn’t even exist.

In real life this airport is closed. I suspect that is why frequencies and the entry in the online flight planner are missing.

It probably shouldn’t be possible for missions to select this airport as an origin or destination.

Landing at the airport in free flight shows me the airport’s traffic frequency is not in use.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

The problem is only obvious when it’s part of a mission where correct ATC handling is expected. Only then is there a mission that gets stuck that can not advance.

In free flight we can announce “Taxi to parking”, but as shown in the image, only on a frequency that is “not in use”.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Land at the airport.
  2. Hold short after exiting the runway.
  3. Attempt to announce taxiing to parking.

YOUR SETTINGS

  1. No mods.
  2. No problems with controllers.
  3. Have never used developer mode.
  4. nVidia RTX 4080

I guess this means this airport can’t really be used as the “home base” either then?

BTW I believe the ICAO is ETIE, not ETEI.

Ah, yes, I believe you are correct about the ICAO code.

I don’t know enough about how MSFS 2024 works internally to say in what contexts the airport can or can’t be used. I can only say that when used in a career mission, the on-screen instructions to press ENTER to announce “taxi to parking” do nothing, which messes up mission progress.

Title updated to better reflect the issue, ICAO code corrected.
That airport does not have frequencies, maybe because as mentioned by OP, airport is closed in real life or it is a military air base ?

I guess missions should not use closed airports but not sure if there is a flag to identify them so that they can be excluded.

If you use the correct ICAO code, it is recognized:

Yes, you can find ETIE in-game using the EFB flight planner. If that wasn’t possible, then career mode would most likely not have been able to send me to that airport.

I’m talking about the online flight planner which I linked to. There ETIE isn’t available.

You are right :+1:
