I meant MS is forcing Asobo to use Azure engine.
Why not to put in game a text to speech high quality offline generator like we use in Google Android phones?

I use call sign Jazz and put the flight number into the FMC at first ATC addresses me as Jazz 1123 but when I get in the air somehow it picks up the data I entered into the FMC and starts calling me Jazz 8044 (a real flight number) so I believe whatever we put as our call sign or flight number has very little to do with ATC cutting out.
Is it going to happen everytime? NO
Is it going to happen randomly? Yes
Can it happen on any flight? Yes
So please Asobo take the time to use the sim, and you will experience what we’ve been experiencing for 2.5 years now.
Better?
Unfortunately it really cannot reproduced consistently.
I am suffering from this issue for about a year now.
It happened on every flight that was longer than 90 minutes.
Sometimes it happened after 1h, sometimes after a few minites.
But in december it did not happen even once.
I even hoped they finally solved the issue but it came back with the new year.
So it dies not happen EVERY time and it does not happen umder the EXACT same circumstances.
And this is what they mean by “consistent repro”.
To solve the problem you have to find it first.
But even more than a year later we still cannot tell what exactly is causing it and apparently they can’t either.
I start to feel, that we will not see a solution before the whole ATC system is rewritten which is probably not happening for MSFS2020 anymore
One thing that would trigger was talking to ATC right after ATC gives an instruction to some ai plane. Now I just try to let the ai respond before I talk to the ATC.

yes whereas ATC audio can no longer be heard.

I do lose ATC comm very frequently and it occurs when I switch from comm 1 to comm 2 receive/ transmit functions. Sometimes I lose all receive functions but do continue to hear my audio response from the ATC response menu (example Acknowledging ATC direction). I do see the ATC transmissions back and forth in the ATC text window. Very frustrating to say the least!
Happened again today 13 jan 2024: had flight following on comm 1 (TX/RX) and ATIS on comm 2 (RX). Heard ATIS audio once and never again no matter what I selected. I tried selecting another frequency on comm 2 and then returning to ATIS yet no audio. The only thing was the ATIS text scrolling in the ATC box once in a while.

Hello All,
During many of my flights, I lose ATC communication.
I fly all of my flights offline with the Fenix A320. I have yet to recently try a flight with a MSFS provided aircraft.
ATC is always audible at the start of the flight, and more often than not it is audible upon approach. But for some reason there is a very high chance that during the flight I will stop hearing ATC.
ATC window will always show incoming communication and my AI Co-Pilot will always respond and be audible.
Sometimes, I will hear ATC, but that is normally on the secondary COM radio that is not tuned to the primary frequency.
I have read through some threads that suggested this may have something to do with Azure servers, and so I have tried switching ATC Text-to-speech settings to : Azure, Offline, OFF. This does not solve the problem, it does however change the voice of my AI copilot.
I don’t really have any further add-ons but I have noticed that it is happening more often so maybe its SU related.
Wondering if others are seeing the same behavior, as I have not changed settings since ATC worked.
I tried that today and it worked! Time will tell if it’s a flash in the pan.
Tried what, if you don’t mind me asking? Mine failed again today.
New failure pattern emerging - for me at least. I lose ATC on EVERY flight. When I lose ATC, I can temporarily recover it by switching to COM2. Within minutes, I get the canned voice - either male or female - and moments later I lose ATC on COM2 as well. This has happened on my past 4 flights.
I don’t always lose ATC but it happens frequently, if I go to COM2 normality is sometimes restored several minutes later. I’ve never noticed any pattern emerging except it only seems to happen when ATC is busy, and dialogue starts to get overlapped.
I prefer to use the ATC but of late it’s becoming very tiresome with these cut-outs, so sometimes I don’t bother, which removes some of the immersion factor for me.
yes, i guess you could say they are attempting to re-connect the text to speech when it disconnects but having to switch to com2 or (com3 in the airliners) is still not an acceptable solution.
when com2/3 also fails then it’s really whomp whomp whomp game over

The ATC voices stop working for me after I started a new flight from the World Map without quitting out the game first.

If I launch a 2nd IFR flight after completing the first flight in the same session, I lose contact with ATC somewhere in the 2nd flight. ATC starts ok with 2nd flight, but then goes mute during the flight. No Audio and no text from ATC.

Well, a few 1½ hr flights in since trying it, and @WhaleCowboy’s idea of turning off spacial sound is still working for me. YMMV of course.
I still get silly instructions like climbing to 15,000ft on the approach, but I just ignore it and I don’t get moaned at; but that’s a different issue so let’s not get into that.
You don’t follow your own flightplan properly, that’s why you get these silly instructions. But I agree with you, let’s stay on topic.
Would not it be easier to switch to offline text2speach instead of giving up on ATC? The only downsize is in offline mode you have two voices, one male and one female. But at least you hear them every time.

Same issue as OP.

I did give that option a try some while back but found it unsatisfactory, the same old voice all the time all over the world, just too tedious. I’m optimistic that a much improved ATC experience will come, if not with the current sim then maybe MFS 24 in the not distant future.
That said my last flight with online ATC from Trondheim to Bergen was faultless in delivery, including a missed approach and second alternate approach!
