Can't add fuel to my aircraft in career mode

I’m having trouble adding fuel in career mode. I am trying to fly the DHC-2 for a cargo mission but I only spawn in with around 20 gallons total and it’s nowhere near enough to get to the required airport. It seems like regardless of what I set fuel too in the EFB planner it does’t affect how much fuel is in the aircraft and when I go to the fuel tab in the Mass and balance manager it just says “You cannot load in aircraft during this flight phase”. I have tried loading fuel before I spawn, after I spawn, and while in the aircraft. At one point I was able to hit the “load aircraft” button but after adding full fuel but it just instantly reset to what it was previously. I am probably missing something obvious but I cant figure it out for the life of me.

Had the same issue, my workarround was to download SDK and Sample project, start simVar and edit the fuel level variable… Tried to use the EFB but the game doesn’t allow to edit the fuel amount on none of the flight steps.

Not very familiar with any Dev Mode or SDK stuff. I think I got the necessary stuff downloaded but having trouble finding simVar. In the meantime I also created a bug report regarding this because this seems like a significant amount of effort to go through just to add fuel to your plane in a flight simulator.

Yeah, I also have problem with DHC-2 when I set Flaps to 1 or 2 I got a max speed violation, even while stopped…

Yeah I have been having the same thing happen to me. Getting violations even when I am in the flap operating range and when parked. Those are a little easier to ignore but the fuel issue kind of wrecks career mode.

How were you able to edit the fuel amount? The only 2 simVar files I found didn’t have a fuel level variable in them.

Same, I posted a topic in the Bug Reporting Hub about this.

About the fuel, I only did one full (at least tried) trip with the Beaver and also ran out of fuel not even halfway through.

Might be time to go back to 3rd party career mode addons. I really don’t understand the decision making behind locking the ability to change fuel level (assuming it’s not a bug). Espically when the auto fuel loader thinks the DHC-2 burns as much fuel as a C150.

Solution:

Hi guys, I also thought it was broken and I had to skip the flight as a solution but I really love flying around new places specially with the scenery all around the world and career is such a good way to know new places. So what you must do is go to your keybings and add a key to “Add Fuel Quatity”. There you go, that should do the trick.

This works!

You just single handedly saved career mode for me. Very strange how the keybind works but not the EFB.

Yeah, I was about having a bad time missing all those credits, I still cant get rid of the penalty for the flaps unfortuntely.

If “Add Fuel” doesn’t work you can also use “Repair and Refuel”.

Thanks for the add fuel tip, but the flaps violation bug makes this plane completely unusable in career mode. You will absolutely tank your career reputation if you ever time skip or land the aircraft due to the many violations the bug gives you.

You are a saint thank you!

This works

The challenge is to not run out of fuel. You guys are probably running way too rich.

Careful with repair and refuel, as it fills the tanks to full, if you carry passengers or cargo, you might exceed MTOW with it. Also if you do the full refuel close to your destination, you will land with with way too much weight, your stall speed is much higher.

For the DHC-2, I climbed to 11,000ft, at 110kts, and full lean mixture. I flew 100nm on about 16gallons and started descent with 4 gallons in last tank. Plenty of fuel to land.

For comparison, I flew like 2,000ft and 8,000ft and ran out of fuel both times with over 40nm remaining to land -this was in 1 mission, I got out of it to check something and couldn’t return, but flew another cargo mission about same distance in South Florida, 11,000 ft at 110kts worked.

Lean-mixture does work, but is it dependent on elevation more than setting ‘full-lean’? (this obviously isn’t real-world sense; just trying to identify lean-mixture setting vs altitude vs effectiveness vs DHC-2 auto-leans by altitude regardless of lean-mixture setting).

Now they blocked the “refill” work around. Supposedly they want us to fly with fumes in our tanks. What an immersive and true to life experience they sell !!
…a pilot not being able to add contingency fuel. From FS2024 the only thing I love are the ground textures. Everything else s_ucks.
