Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Description of the issue:
Any time I try to invert the camera settings it treats both up and down on the thumb sticks and one button and does not separate up from down. This bricks the ability to aim up or down if you try to invert your camera.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
How often does this occur for you? (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)
Always

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• I have the same issue
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Using the automatic detection on movement of the Xbox controller right thumbstick simply maps the button to both up and down, breaking the control mapping. I was able to invert the controls manually though by clicking the gear icon and toggling the appropriate thumbstick movements.

I’m having what seems to be the same issue, but on PC using a mouse, not Xbox using a controller.
The default controls are set as:
This is actually what I want – moving the mouse up should look down and vice versa, but what is actually happening is moving the mouse up causes a look up, and mouse down causes a look down.
If I try to rebind these, it will register both a mouse up and mouse down movement, which does not work.
I can’t find any way around this by using the gear icon. (The control to invert the axis is disabled, which makes sense because the mouse is not really an axis control.)
Found on reddit : “Might have found a fix. If you click the cogwheel on the right side of a bind, there’s a list of inputs on the left side. One will be the R stick with both arrows. Uncheck this one and set it to whichever you want the direction to be, ie toggle Look Up/Down as inverse”
for each control setting, there’s a little cog on the right side. once you click that, it’ll take you to a menu were you can select the input for that control on the left.
i can’t embed images as i’m a “new user” but i doubled checked this with a mouse on my pc
Oh wow, there it is. My brain just read the “cog” UI as the dark “Actions settings” box in the middle, and the rest as background. Thanks for clearing this up.
Thank you for this bug report! We will create an internal ticket to get this looked at.
In the meantime, here is the workaround:
On the default preset for Xbox Controller and Mouse, the inputs for external camera and cockpit camera are not set as an Axis. The drone camera is set up as Axis, so the up and down movement, and left and right movement, can be inverted easily using that invert input setting.
Therefore, if you want to invert the controls on the external camera and cockpit camera, you need to create a new control preset and set the controls in the opposite configuration.
To do this, instead of using the ‘Scanning’ feature, use the list of controller actions on the left hand side and click on the action you’d like to use.
This configuration is not possible to enter using the controller.
When I select the input and it goes to “Scanning”, if I press down on the R stick, the control that then displays is Up+Down, not Down. If I press up on the R stick, the control that then displays is Up+Down, not Up. There is no way to have the control accept only Down or only Up.
For anyone who tried my approach, I have figured out what’s going on. A bit of unintuitive UI going on here. To assign a different stick direction, you need to do the following:
Highlight the binding you want to change.
Unbind the binding so that it is blank.
Navigate to the gear icon to the right and press A.
The list of every possible controller action is now highlighted. Navigate down the list. The right stick actions are towards the bottom.
Press A on the action you want.
Do the same for the other direction.
Escape out and enjoy!
I did this for both the cockpit view and the external camera view and now it feels like home
If I remember right, I think I configured the binding in the usual binding screen, but this has the problem that the control will be set to both mouse up and mouse down (the icon will show a mouse with an arrow up and down). This is not what we want. I don’t think this step is necessary, because you will set the binding properly from the cog screen.
To fix this, go into the cog screen, and over on the far left unselect what was originally bound (mouse up and down), and only select the binding for mouse down or mouse up depending on what you want.
