Try to connect to Xbox Live on their website, maybe it is temporarily down in your region.
I think I’m having similar issues. I’ve not been able to play since yesterday. I get ‘can’t connect to content sever’ error message and gaming is set to ‘limited’ in my area if you check Xbox status website
That screen grab shows you are into the main program. I don’t think you were blaming Steam and were just providing information for others to be better able to help, but the connection issues very likely have nothing to do with Steam once you get this far in the program. Only the loading screens up to the black background/white text MS/Asobo copyright notice are part of the stub Steam runs. As soon as you get to screen images of scenery, it’s probably all due to Microsoft servers or some issue that has developed in the full MS/Asobo side.
Might not push it too far, then. I was in that boat shortly after the update last week with no connection to the server, having to relogin, etc, but it started working after I let it sit for a while.
Others who keep trying have been hit with ~70GB redownloads and essentially reinstalls.
No idea how related that is but odd connectivity issues seem to come after updates and with that comes the risk of program file corruption and needing to redownload about 70GB of data. Anecdotally at least, there seems to be a connection.
If you have the space, making a backup of the FS2020 folders and files before beating on it much more might be a good idea.

I got this same issue last week but somehow managed to get past it. But I had to install a 67 GB update…
Only solution for me : reinstall game… working fine now.
