i have the same problem, i have even reinstalled windows, still no update to be found…
ok, i could fix the problem for me. I was still registered in the xbox insider hub for Sim Update 4 as a beta tester. i had to leave the msfs preview and then the update started immediately…
This problem has occurred for me over the last three major updates. My only solution has been to reformat the drive Flight Sim is on after uninstalling, then try again, starting at the Standard Version. I was considering reinstalling windows, so thanks to Migulein72 for trying that.
Windows Store works fine with other products. If this is an overloaded server error, then Asobo and Microsoft need to get together and at least come up with a meaningful error message, but quite frankly, if this was the problem, then why does an uninstall and reinstall sometimes fix it?
Also, why does the Xbox App not scan the drives properly and report where apps can be installed? It’s all just to darn complicated.
No didnt work for me either, leaving the preview in the insider app is the solution, any problems leaving search @TenPatrol posts
I got it to work in a strange way. If you go to the marketplace and look at the free update for Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark it used to say you require version 1.17.3.0 now it says minimum version is 1.16.2.0 Which I have so I installed it and everything is working Ok. Only guess is that Microsoft believed that by the time of release version 1.17.3 would be out? Strange communication you have to be a mind reader to figure it out?
Jesus, what a hassle, guess I’ll wait until early morning or tomorrow, can’t even find it in the store with search engine or Download and Install Updates.
Something better has to be done.
I’ve done that and I still get the same problem. It says there’s a mandatory update, directs me to Microsoft Store but there is no update to be found.
Yes I have the same issue - It needs to work better than this - what a headache
Grrrrrr, after following all steps mentioned here (as in https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015760660-Microsoft-Store-Download-Installation-issues-Part-I-Checklist and https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4405345181202-Microsoft-Store-Download-and-Installation-issues-Part-II-Basic-Troubleshooting), several reboots and updating/installing loads of software that I never use and don’t need clogging up my computer, I still get the message that “A new mandatory update is available. Please update Microsoft Flight Simulator in the Microsoft Store before launching”. But when redirected to Microsoft Store, there is no update for MSFS there.
It is the same with every update again: each time, you have to count on several hours of troubleshooting to get things working again. Each time, it is a different procedure (for the first updates, I did not need to go to Microsoft Store, it would just update from MSFS’s loading screen, far more convenient (but it messed up my customized settings…). then we were told to go to Microsoft Store, and now we have to install some Xbox App as well (and still it does not work, so I’m starting to think that I installed these extra apps for no reason, now).
I have run out of options, except for, apparently, trying again and again for a couple of hours. Let’s just hope I will be able to fly again one day…
Did you already tried to update windows? Optional update KB5005101. That was the way it worked for me. After that update FS2002 updated.
Yes, as I wrote, I had followed each and every step in those instructions, all Microsoft Updates, including the optional ones, all bloatware (such as the “Microsoft Solitaire Collection”) in Microsoft Store (most of which I can’t imagine to have anything to do with MSFS, but the instructions tell us to do this, so before blaming them, I figured, I should try this), reset the Microsoft Store Cache, installed the Xbox app and reinstalled Microsoft Gaming Services from the Powershell. And still no option to update MSFS in the Microsoft Store.
In the end, it was the “try again, and again, and again, and again, …” that did it: even though, under “My library”, it still just had the “Start”, no option to update, on the page for MSFS itself, at some point, after clicking on the three dots next to “Play”, I suddenly got the choice for “Update”. So, it is solved now, but not without a lot of frustration (as with almost every update so far)
For a couple of weeks, I have been having problems running 2020 but, at last after reinstalling, I have it running again. However, the problem is that I cannot get World Update 8.
When I run 2020, I see a screen of a bridge which I assume is from Update 8. It then goes into the check for updates but finds none and continues. When it concludes the check, what the screen shows for a moment is the same shot with the bridge and then the screen reverts to Sydney Harbour and continues with the details from Update 7 showing. Also, World Update 8 is not showing in Content Manager to select and download.
The current version indicated is 1.23.12.0
Can someone give me advice on how to get the update?
Well after many waits and clicks… still no update 9 showing for me, says partially installed.
Strange, the Maverick just installed fine…
On my system I have to ignore the MS Store which never works, and go to some XBox app in my Windows start menu and update from there.
