Career mode addons: OnAir vs FSEconomy vs Air Hauler 2 vs NeoFly vs The Skypark

For me, there are not enough contracts at the moment particularly when you compare it to something like Neofly. From my local airport in the UK, I was offered 3 flights, two medium haul and one short flight. As I’m flying the G36, there was only the short flight that was possible and it wasn’t one that appealed to me. Neofly would have offered dozens of options.

Maybe the contracts will come in time or with XP but not enough at the moment.

I’m also not sure what to do with the XP and money earned. It seems you can fly any aircraft you like in Skypark so I’m not sure what I’m meant to do with the money I’m making apart from keep it in the bank.

Can you expand on not being able to use the modded aircraft? I’ve been looking into getting OnAir and this was one of my questions but I noticed they had an approval system that allows some of them. I also saw some YouTube videos where people were flying the well known aircraft mods while using OnAir?

Is it just one particular mod or all of them that are blocked?

Hey, so I installed the 215 HP variant of this mod into the game. When I add this to OnAir and fly this mod around for the required time OnAir wants after the flight finishes it then gives me a message that this aircraft has been moderated and is unavailable for use. The working title cj4 works. BUT only has a range on like 900 nm while the stock Longitiude in On Air has around 800 nm range. I’ve waited to see them update this and it hasn’t happened in the almost 2 or so months I’ve had On Air so that has put me off.

On a positive side though, if you’re an XPlane 11 user still you can change which sim it reads and use your same company but fly in X Plane. Also any xplane airframes available you can use in On Air as well, but can only be assigned to AI pilots if you can’t actually fly the plane yourself. So I was flying the default TBM 930 in FS 2020 but was expanded and having AI pilots fly Pilatus PC 12’s because those are just a beast of an airplane for cargo bush flying.

Other reviews have talked about scrolling between different windows and it takes time between each move to load sometimes and it is rather annoying and I agree with the others on that one.

The UI is really nice IMO compared to Air Hauler 2 which I want to like and support but that spreadsheet interface is really just dated and I’ve had frustration with trying to schedule passenger flights and the convert to UTC time there’s no local times at all. Which I understand it’s aviation but I’m dumb lol so having the option to have both in Air Hauler 2 would be nice. Also no scheduled passenger service ability in On Air at the moment which would be nice as well.

Bought SkyPark. THAT was the magic formula for me.

Want to buy it as well. The only question I have so far is there any progression or you just have everything open right away? Like airplanes and type of flights etc. Saw couple videos but couldn’t figure what for you get experience or money within app.

Thanks!

You have all the aircraft you own in the sim. Missions open up depending on progression. There will be more stuff coming.

I think // 42 Skypark could be something, that should be compared as well.
It is new as early access and looks awsome, when watching the FSElite review / walkthrough with the developers.

Skypark is published by ORBX only I think.

I’m still flying OnAir on Stratus doing my own thing. I have been looking at Air Hauler 2 and Skypark. I would eventually like to have them all but yesterday I really wanted to get on Skypark. Problem is the purchase is restricted to OrbX Central. I do not use the OrbX platform. If I could just make an account on there and purchase direct I would already be flying with my Skypad.

I’ve also been telling people about Air Hauler 2 and driving people crazy talking about Skypark. It really does look fun. I’m all about immersion and it does look like it offers something a bit different with a modern UI. Really love the skypad work. It’s brilliant and the app is tiny BUT its locked in OrbX Central for now. Lets hope it gets on the Marketplace too. Seems suited to it aside from maybe the mature content option.

You really should give Orbx a shot. I find it to be superior to ANY storefront out there right now, including the Marketplace. This is coming from someone who used to refuse buying on anything outside of MP.

My product FSFlyingSchool doesn’t have economy or a pilot career, but we do have flight evaluation and tracking of improvement. Feel free to try the free demo… I don’t want to do a sale job on you!

I’m keen to find what other people are interested in as I’ve never thought of adding these other elements before.

@Kpeterscr +1 for FSpassengers, a cracking program - simple to use and monitored all the key aspects of your flying. Self Loading Cargo is nearest but doesn’t quite cut it in the way FSPassengers did.

Best one is NeoFly in my opinion. Free and excellent! It did take me 1-2 weeks of grinding AI missions for $$$, but now I own the A320 and TBM930 in and all I do is fly and have fun! No more need manage AI now that I own the planes I want to fly.

Does SkyPark “do” PAX, or is it cargo only?

There is a feature for that too, though I haven’t seen any missions yet, maybe because I am low level. Though if it’s missing, it will be implemented - there is a button for passenger missions.

Cheers. Can you start with a tube liner?

Yup! For every mission there is a list of RECOMMENDED category of aircraft. But you can choose whatever you want that you have in the sim.

Nice. Thanks. I may take the plunge even though I only bought ah2 this week

I haven’t bought AH2, but saw the screenshots. I passed.

I think you posted a question earlier around why we us AH2 etc, I’ve had a think about it and for me it’s purpose, it gives us a reason to fly from a to b that we wouldn’t pick naturally with out a reason, being motivated by a piece of software telling us to do so sounds simplistic but I think it’s true anything that adds to immersion or theatre more the better..a medical emergency, contraband, time constraints, difficult airport, harsh weather, poorly maintained aircraft, failures all adds to story or simply take some cargo to another airport.

As for the empire building etc, yes it can Be valued but often can be become tedious for the sake of doing it and can be fairly unrealistic in terms of how easy it is to accumulate money/assets beyond a certain point. I think although it might be considered harsh I think any empire building aspirations of some of the software mentioned could be considered quite limited if compared to the same genre for other empire/simulation games where the logic coding I would consider more sophisticated.

My 2c.

The business simulation part is just a means to an end. What gives these addons longevity is the interest factor (suggesting you go to places you wouldn’t think of) and an increase in simulation fidelity (failures in flight).

I was always an FSPassengers addict simply because of the in flight failures. Sure you could get engine failures but there were also electrical failures, flaps jamming, u/c not fully extending…all kinds of interesting things to deal with. With AH2 you could get instrumentation failures as well (eg your altimeters stops working).
